  1. The demos were almost like a pair of 530's but bigger, as I recall. The tips are replaceable, I used the foam tips when I auditioned them. How close they are to the customs depends on how good a fit and seal you get with the demo version. I had trouble with the fit and they were still better than any IEM I had heard before. My customs are even better.
  2. The Quads were borrowed from Alex. I hope to have a pair of A5's soon, waiting for a shipping quote.
  3. I bought this a while ago as a gift for my son but he told me he didn't need it so I kept it around figuring it would come in handy. Well now that the Quads are gone here is my office rig. Oh how the mighty have fallen: The truth is it is pretty adequate for the office.
  4. Last night, Wilco at the Filmore in Miami Beach. As always, a great show. After that, we went over to the Van Dyke Cafe on Lincoln Road and caught Tom Toyama, who is a vibe player. He had a few others in the band including a very attractive young lady that played piano and Japanese drums. It was a late night and today will be a long day but worth it.
  5. For anyone that has a jailbroken iPhone, there is a Cydia app called MyWi ($10) that allows you to use your phone as a wifi router. I was able to connect another iphone to mine and the internet worked. My phone was in the list of wifi networks the other phone found. Assuming this works with the ipad and I don't see any reason why it won't, I will end up cancelling my ipad 3G order.
  6. Maybe bought and sold thread. I think there are a few others that are getting close to qualifying as well.
  7. I have a deal on a pair of Audioengine A5 in Bamboo.
  8. Sorry to hear this Old Pa.
  9. Looks good as always. I just fired up the smoker and the 5 hours countdown until the brisket is done has begun.
  10. Grateful Dead Winterland Box Set. A sweet Dark Star is beginning. Vinyl sucks.
  11. Al, sounds like good times. Enjoy!
  12. That sucks but not surprising to any of us on chat last night. Took my son to the range and shot about 300 rounds through the Sig P229, Kahr PM9 and a 38 special revolver that the girl who cuts my hair gave me to sell for her. Now I'm drinking some Chimay, smoking a Oliva Serie V and brewing some Smoked Porter.
  13. They are not completely isolating. There is some leakage but nothing like an open headphone. If I send them to Jp, he can send them to you next to try out.
  14. One day my garage will look something like that.
  15. I have Alex's O2 mk1, my 4070 and Omega with me for the weekend. I've been doing some switching between the 3 headphones on different tracks. I'm not volume matching but they all appear close in terms of volume. I think I have to with Al's ranking (Al, I think this is how you ranked them). Omega 4070 (very close second) O2 mk1 I wish I could put into words the reasons. I just find the first two more enjoyable. The first two seem faster with better dynamics. That's the best I can come up with beyond just liking the Omega and 4070 better. Sorry Jp, the 4070 is staying. However, if you want me to send them up to you to try out, no problem.
  16. Happy Birthday Al!
  17. Happy Birthday Gary!

  19. My only line. If Jp seems mad at you it will be because I decided to keep the 4070 that I was thinking of selling him because he told me you ranked them just under the Omega.
  20. Nice haul. I had an opportunity to pick up a growler of the Palo tonight but passed. First Shelly and now you with the Monk's Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. That was the first and last Flemish Ale I had at Monk's Cafe in Philly. There was the Flemish Ale that Jp had me try without warning. I asked him for some sour milk to rinse out the taste of the Flemish Ale. It was funny at the time.
  21. Stay safe and as Dan said we are supporting you. I have something to send you when you return. I think you will enjoy it.
  22. I was thinking diet, but if surgery works, go for it.
