Audez'e LCD2. You know you want them, Mike.
  2. I believe XLR actually does come pretty close to hitting the 110ohm spec, the real problem is that an XLR connector is not in any way an RF connector. Something like a twinax connector would be much more suitable for balanced spdif.
  3. The o2 driver is fully sealed, so unless the mylar dust covers got damaged, there is no way dust could get in the driver. If it did, then yes, it could cause problems, like we see on the ESP950.
  4. Dunno how much flexibility you have, but IDC punchdown connectors are pretty cool IMO. http://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Phoenix%20Contact%20PDFs/1706183.pdf
  5. Small amounts to close a cut dont really get noticeably warm. I only even realized that it heats up after I made that mistake. I dunno what Fitz is doing with it though.
  6. Actually no. I use superglue when I get minor cuts on my hands and stuff, and was trying to glue a cut on the outer part of it, using regular non-gel superglue. Awkward position, and I managed to spill most of the bottle over the palm of my hand, and spent the next four hours trying to get it off. Palm was completely covered, and fairly deep too.
  7. Superglue gets rather warm as it sets. Dont ask how I found that one out.

Definitely considering it. Planning on shooting it out at NYC with the HE-5, which I have had loaners for since right after RMAF. Probably buy the winner.

$650. And I will have you know, I am not used to, and never will be used to any fraction of a Tice on my head.
  10. Yeah, I would use a good epoxy, JB Weld or something. Make sure to properly clean both joints first. Of course, a replacement part would be ideal. Rawr, Dinny Angry. This Not a DAC!

No idea, difficulty getting repeatable results, still some tweaking left that will impact upper frequencies, havnt gotten to it yet. No idea. My blow-by-blow report will be which of the two (HE-5 v. LCD2) I buy. Maybe a bit more, but that will be the core of it. Except its way overly smoothed. I want no headphones which put a Tice on my head. I find this interesting, comparing the CSD of the LCD1 to the new LCD2. Pretty sweet, the LCD2 is nearly twice as fast, and with fewer artifacts. http://www.audeze.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/LCD2-Waterfall-1W-NF.jpg http://www.audeze.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/spectraldecay1.png

Can't wait to see more complete measurements. Saturday is going to be very interesting.
  13. I could go for some chinese food, pizza, and beer. Instead I woke up late and drove my mother and sister to get H1N1 vaccines, since mother is 1 week postop and sister just cant drive.

Tying B+ to the top plate and removing the ground connections would.

Nate, thats hot. I cant wait to hear it next week. Schematics!
  16. Happy birthday!
  17. Vicki, do you have a multimeter you could bring? If not, it doesnt look like the TSA has any limitations with taking those carryon. Also, do you have the big plitron in yours?
  18. What makes you say this? All that I have seen is that they are able to read the forums and see what people tend to like to hear right now.
  19. Ah no, the service manual is something which must be acquired separately, definitely quite different from the owners manual. This is also often the case with audio companies, though many do not offer anything. Companies like Denon, Rotel, and many others do provide very useful and complete service manuals upon request, which provide everything from schematics, a BOM, board guide, and exploded assembly guide. My sensei's favorite insult was always that one's mother wears combat boots.
  20. Probably needs the extra width to get all the bits though it that 24/96 requires.
  21. Yeah, I have heard good things about them, mainly their Silk transformers.
  22. Probably a good thing.
