A work colleague is travelling to the US in a couple of weeks and is spending a few days in NYC. She has been considering to purchase a new iPhone there since even getting a "free" model capable of working on any phone service provider, she'd be saving like $200-300. SIM cards don't seem to be an issue, nor 5G service, but someone told her that the geolocation services could be. I've done the customary search and wasn't able to find much about it. Since many of you're mostly iPhone users and long distance travellers, you could possibly shed some light on this issue. Thxs.

Fifth season of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel I've found it better than the two previous ones. Or more interesting in the worst case.

That's funny, a "horno" in Spanish is an oven. Those things look like a fashionable one

I find it kind of repetitive and focusing around the idea of other PF releases. Kind of made by a goofy graphic designer who doesn't really know where is leading to. -
Another year already? Happy Birthday, Jeffy!!!

She was a huge talent capable of an emotional connection to the music that only a bunch of singers managed, to my taste, of course. I've listened over the weekend a couple of albums by a spanish jazz pianist whose music I didn't know, just his name. Pretty good I'd dare say: Abe RĂ¡bade - Ghu Project Vol.1 and Open Doors (Ghu Project Vol.2) Not extraordinary nor unique or ground breaking, but very enjoyable. They're on Qobuz too. It's funny that all streaming services, even Odesli, get wrong that Open Doors is Ghu Project Vol.2, not Vol.1 as they all wrongly display.

I'm one of the lucky ones not getting the F. Mercury joke, not even speculating that his closed eyes could be hanging breasts. -
Fleishman is in Trouble I finished episode 3 yesterday. Not bad. The sad part is that it reflects a world that truly exists everywhere. Waiting for it to be surprising at some point.

Thanks, but on a current production Mac this DAC won't work unless I used it on a legacy OSX, which is not the clever thing to do on a new computer. it would work on Windows thru USB, though. The manufacturer didn't deliver USB drivers for OSX newer than Sierra or so. I like it because it sounds good, has simultaneously working balanced XLR and SE RCA outputs, and has a Sabre chip that plays DSD natively. Replacing it with a similar quality device would add >1.5K to the bill. But I'm not sure I love it as much as to go back to have a Windows computer The day this poor trustful Mac dies I'll make my mind up and spend the dough, I guess. I might ditch fancy DACs to get a proper audio interface thus probably giving up on playing DSD natively. I haven't been able to find an equivalent to the discontinued TASCAM DA-3000

I'm not sure of going that route, I'm very afraid of losing support of the Firewire DAC I'm using, which is the main reason why I haven't purchased a new computer in all this time. I might consider that if the lack of support to this computer becomes a serious problem, but I'm afraid it's more likely that I get another one. 13 years is quite some time even for this indestructible device.

According to that schedule about killing older devices, this MBP should be kept alive for a while, but it's old enough not to admit the update to Catalina. No worries, I'm happy with Qobuz so far My iPad has suffered a cynical death (as opposed to clinical) for a couple of years. It's still good to read the newspaper, some web browsing and other "easy" tasks. I'm not upgrading it just for how pissed I am at Apple. I'm pretty sure it could still do a lot more things.
