Since my description didn't seem to be of much help, I managed to get a caption showing most of the album cover It's just that I'm very curious about what's collectible and very seek after jazz for the show script writers. It could be a good album, who knows.

I'm not sure I'm getting the drift, but funnily enough my mother frequently called me Antoine. When I was a kid and my parents didn't want me to understand what they were talking about, they spoke in French, both were very fluent. Probably that helped to open some neural paths in different ways than Jerry ;D. It's a pity all American movies were dubbed to Spanish.

I was watching a TV show in a scene a guy was giving a rare, collectible vinyl album to another. The album cover was brown or very dark orange with regularly distributed, about 5x5 or 6x6, white circles. In four of the circles, in the same line, starting next to the left rim, the word JAZZ spelled one single letter into one single circle. That's all, no names, no label, no artist mentioned or music sounding. I've tried looking for that cover on Discogs, Google, etc, but nothing came out. Any cues?

That's my teacher's point, if you get familiar with the unpredictable places where the musician is taking you to, you start to be in a position to get more involved emotionally and to really enjoy this "weird" stuff. Funnily enough I found this video at Youtube (that guy's channel is interesting for those of us learning) which is somewhat related to this matter The weirder, richer and unpredictable is the stuff you're listening to, the more trained to find out intervals and harmonies our brains will be.

His name is Al (Alberto) Martín, but he has no website nor social network profile. He's not this Alberto Martín. Al's the luthier behind the aluminum Pamito Guitars design, woodwork (neck, fretboard), pick ups, ensembling and adjustments. I have one of their aluminum Telecaster models, I posted pics elsewhere. Look at the all wood models, they have some similarities in finish and sound to his own guitars, but he has plenty of smaller body designs, even shorter scale lengths, and small head. He got in touch with Allan through another musician/guitarist/producer who came to live in Spain in the 80's or late 70's, but I can't recall his name. Al is a more than decent guitarist, I mean not at virtuoso level technically IMO, but very knowledgeable at theory level. He recommended me to listen to Holdsworth works to learn how he handled harmonic concepts and how original were his melodic lines. My "problem" with such music is that it's rather atonal, not easy to follow melodically, but amazing for its different perspectives. I'm listening now to Metal Fatigue

Allan Holdsworth owned one of the hand made by my teacher guitars. He seemed to like a lot small body ones with funny shapes, and great sounding. I've listened to a couple of albums on YT, is the whole collection worth it?

I'm learning some harmony and music theory with a jazz guitarist, so also trying to make the damn thing sound. Insight about "how music works" gives a completely different focus, but I'm still far away from being as aware as you on those performance features. I like Richter, but also Annie Fischer or Elly Ney playing Beethoven sonatas. I don't like Lang Lang either

Thanks. I'm not an experienced musician, just a rookie wannabe, so for me it's not that easy guessing the kind of person playing and the kind of development it took to get that performance. I've been able to perceive and enjoy the Michelangeli's perfectionism and intellectual approach, the rigor or perhaps sort of "emotional sterility" on Pollini, the unique vision of Gould... but I've not been able to "get" what's behind Arrau's performances. Not that I've listened to everything he recorded, and never got to watch him live. I'm now listening to the first CD on the set that Jacob recommended. I think this is not the Arrau I've listened to in other performances
