RED SOX WIN!!! 2 games to 1! As Gene says, this was really all they had to do in Detroit. Also on Gene's sage advice, I am ok with the Dodgers getting a maximum of 2 wins to give them false hope and also to wear out the Cards a bit more before the Red Sox - Cardinals Series.

One big fly and two HUGE strikeouts with men at 1st and 3rd! So wish I could actually watch a game and drink a beer instead of listening on a computer while working. And yes, I'll stop whining about work soon.

OK, we sang happy birthday to you, so can we go play with Watson now?! Happy birthday Queen V! It's never about you any more, once you have a child. Have a great day with Watson and Ivan and make sure not to feed him chocolate or he will die. Cheers!

It's not that often that in one night you can see world class jazz musicians play amazing arrangements of all these tunes: Ornette Coleman -- When Will the Blues Leave Thelonious Monk -- Crepescule With Nellie and San Francisco Holiday Herbie Hancock -- And What If I Don't Horace Silver -- Song For My Father (encore -- it made me think of Jacob) For their 10th anniversary year, the SF Jazz Collective is doing a retrospective of their greatest hits, including their annual arrangements of a Jazz Giant's compositions and their own original compositions inspired by that artist. We heard nine fabulous tunes, with two of Monk's because it would be his 96th birthday today. I should have had a Brother Thelonious beer, which was available, but I really don't like it so I had a La Merle Saison instead. I figured Monk wouldn't mind and would have made the same choice. I don't like the Dodgers even advancing this far, but so long as their hopes and dreams are crushed at some point that will suffice.

Well, the Pirates' offense hasn't shown up through 6 so I'm a little concerned about their ability to beat the Dodgers. I'm just going to wait and see who wins and then root for them against the damn Dodgers.

You know, I'm kind of sick of the Cards too even though they are one of my typical NL fallback teams (in part due to a good friend from StL). I'm rooting for the Pirates tonight (so long as you'all think they can beat the Dodgers for sure)!
