  1. Have a BIG birthday Lloyd! Cheers!
  2. Sorry for the loss, Carl, that does indeed suck. My son and I just watched the movie Anzio the other day, which is about a serial war correspondent. Even though it is way more hokey than I recalled, it does drive home the kind of risks and rewards of that profession.
  3. One of these.
  4. As soon as the new Thunderbolt equipped displays and hard drives come out, which will be very soon, the Thunderbolt will allow an MBP or MBA user to have a desktop setup with a full sized monitor, an external hard drive or array, and eventually other peripherals to use a single cable to connect or disconnect the laptop. All that ease of use with mega fast transfer speeds. Seems pretty good to me. Also, I thought the Sandy Bridge chips were going to "bring massive CPU performance improvements to Apple's most diminutive laptops with little change in power requirements." That also seems pretty good to me.
  5. The front page of the SF Chronicle has an article today about the closing of A Different Light Bookstore in the Castro. Amazingly, they believe that this is the last gay-themed bookstore left in California, so next month there will be none. That is a sad thing for gay culture and literature, but I also think it is consistent with the general trend of bookstores disappearing and reflective of the fact that mainstream bookstores carry more gay literature. Steve and i went to A Different Light post-MOA, so now I am extra glad we did.
  6. I may well buy the Little Big Disk because it is super cool, but I was indeed talking about in wall cable and that one won't be long enough. LaCie is also doing a larger SSD array that is featured in the earlier TB video and THAT is going to be epic.
  7. Disregarding the gratuitous attack on hops, the Autumnal Ale sounds perfect for you with it's German malts and such, Dusty. The Existent will be my next try, and then Cellar Door is supposed to be available in a couple weeks.
  8. The stairwell was pitch black so I chose the dark and potentially malfunctioning elevator. It was a smooth ride without issue other than darkness. Dusty, I would be specific and say that you understand tires that wear unevenly are less efficient and will nit last as long. They blew it and have no excuse. I would drop the tow comment given that you have been driving without a problem. I would also refrain from saying "another free alignment" because you paid for a four wheel alignment and have yet to receive what you paid for. And scorpions.
  9. Stillwater Stateside Saison at City Beer. I wanted more hops but it is still very tasty.
  10. ^indeed. I was just getting ready to leave and go to see the Giants game with my daughter when the power went out in my office. It cycled back on quickly but then we received this email: "Due to a blown transformer, the building representatives advised us not to use the elevators, and to use the stairs until they begin to work properly." Good advice. I already crashed in one here without a blown transformer. Well, 22 floors of stairs, here I come.
  11. I still haven't tried Fireside Chat, myself.
  12. I cannot picture you selecting that beer. Great brewery and not horrible beer, but how did you end up with it?
  13. Sorry, Todd, but Knuckles posted it in the slower forum and all I could hear in my head was John Cleese repeating, No. 1, The Larch. The Larch. The Larch.
  14. Further to the new content weirdness, I have noticed the last couple of days that if there is more than one page of new content, the first page will be in reverse chron order but then the second page starts with some threads that are much more recent than the end of page one. Even if you hit new content again, it will not pull those page 2 entries to page 1.
  15. Wut? Where were the other two new tires? Some tires need to be new all at the same time to avoid uneven wear or some nonsense. If the installer screwed up you should think about making them give you 4 new ones now. And installing them all now too.
  16. Thanks Jim but I meant the Intel Thunderbolt I/O cable that uses the same connector as the mini display port but I think is different cable.
  17. I actually think "epic" is an understatement for a change. Holy shit that's a big sandwich.
  18. Anybody know if Thunderbolt cable is even available now?
  19. I was watching that game for a short time when it was 3-3 and then 4-3 and I thought the Bruins looked terrible in comparison. That's quite a turn-around.
  20. Esperanza Spalding interview and live performance on Sirius Real Jazz.
  21. Go small or stay home! Or something like that.
  22. Not necessarily coffee based but can be coffee based, like Dark Lord that has had INTELLIGENTSIA coffee in it (although I don't know if it always does). From Beer Advocate: Russian Imperial Stout Description: Inspired by brewers back in the 1800's to win over the Russian Czar, this is the king of stouts, boasting high alcohol by volumes and plenty of malt character. Low to moderate levels of carbonation with huge roasted, chocolate and burnt malt flavours. Often dry. Suggestions of dark fruit and flavors of higher alcohols are quite evident. Hop character can vary from none, to balanced to aggressive. Average alcohol by volume (abv) range: 8.0-12.00% [ ? ]
