  1. I have been dawdling on these -- especially because of the other two series I am in for the Blue Notes -- but I have contacted AS to see about signing up. I asked about where they were pressed when I emailed Heather. At least one knowledgeable SH Forums guy with the first three titles thinks they were pressed at Pallas. From talking with Steve Hoffman previously, it seemed that he had worked on the first 7-8 titles and of the first 12 sides, 10 had his initials in the dead wax along with Kevin Gray's. That would seem to confirm he was involved to an extent, although KG will do a great job solo as well.
  2. Cool. He posts on CA and seems like a decent dude.
  3. Hey, that's mean!

  5. Did you ever get any of the Kinks in hi-rez, Dusty?
  6. Nice! I have 3 or 4 of the Kinks on HDTracks 24/96 and they all sound pretty great. DL'ing was much smoother this last time than my previous HDT purchases. Not sure if my end or theirs, but I was happy. An odd mix of listening so far today: Flaming Lips -- Embryonic Terry Reid -- The River Julie London -- Julie Is Her Name [Todd says the new 45rpm release of vol. 1 is teh awsum, so I was checking it out.] And now playing: Lyle Lovett --Natural Forces
  7. Have a royally good time today Queen V! Cheers!
  8. That is it, and the pic is a little bulkier than life-size. There is a short cable extension, so you can have a flaccid dongle hanging rather than the stiff dongle extending. Also, in answer to the questions earlier about Apple Lossless support, the upcoming version 1.1 will support ALAC and some people have early versions of it already. Within the month is my understanding of the formal release.
  9. Jimmy Cobb, et al -- Cobb's Corner [24/96 download from HD Tracks]
  10. I will add to your stocks one of these days...
  11. I'm still totally sold on Amarra and think it is well worth the money so shoot me. The ease of use for listening to any sample rate is awesome and the sound is quite noticeably improved on a good system. I cannot wait for the needle-drop solution to be more integrated but right now I have some serious Sonic Studio software in tandem and recording is a breeze. I just have to figure out chopping up the tracks and I will be in business. I have had plenty of help from Sonic and others, but I cannot seem to lock the process into my brain (and failed to take proper notes). And Greg, if you are buying you should contact Meier Shadi at the Beverly Hills audio shop (on Amarra website). He was at CanJam and is a really good guy. SS would point you to him in any event, as I understand it.

Every time that guy goes down, he ends up like a bug stuck on its back!
  14. Does Dan Lavry say that 192 is too high or that higher rates are not good?
  15. Walton, Carter & DeJohnette
  16. Fucking fuck. That sucks.
  17. And you will know us by the trail of dead -- Rhapsody Rocks Austin 2009 The Avett Brothers -- Rhapsody Originals
  18. Erin McKeown -- Hundreds of Lions
  19. I don't think I have tried the K501s with the P-1 but the K701 is also hard to drive and it sounds fine from the P-1 to my limited recollection. I have also tried the K340 (Headphile'd) and it was certainly not playing to its highest level from the P-1. However, I have the HD600/650/800 and the P-1 handles all of them well and without straining. I don't really think the P-1 can be said to have trouble with high impedance cans or even favor low impedance even though I definitely like the way Grados and AD2Ks sound from it.
  20. New title: The World's Nicest Shill
  21. The Flaming Lips -- Embryonic
  22. I was just using Nate's term, Jeff, so please don't take control of my head! Nobody thinks you are shilling, but it was funnier to keep that line going. No offense intended.
  23. Jeff is actually shilling the PS Audio Perfect Wave DAC in the Ayre USB DAC thread, and the first mention of either Berkeley Audio Alpha DAC or the dCS stack came into play from comments about Chris Connaker's Ayre USB DAC review and then Cunty_Shallow piped up about how fantastic the dCS stack was in comparison to the "mid-fi" Alpha DAC based entirely on one session at Sound by Shithead. Does it all make sense now? My main question is whether SbS was playing hi-rez or just CDs? The Alpha DAC really shines -- and is really intended for -- hi-rez music. That comparison done by somebody I trust would mean something. Of course, when I heard the Spectral 4000 CDP up against the Alpha DAC, the Spectral was much better, and three times as much money.
  24. Inspired by Dinny's zeal, I filled in my profile here for the first time. If we used some kind of consistent format for data entry, couldn't the profile fields be harvested automagically? I am assuming no, given the responses and the thoughts of other much more technically inclined and computer savvy individuals, but it wouldn't seem to be beyond the realm of possibilities. And Dinny, when you figure out your solution, please note I was supportive and therefore should not be excluded. Thank you.
  25. I thought it was higher, so that seems like a better option. Dinny, get drop ship together!
