  1. I'd say they are on the fun neutral side because they have a nice warmth to them without being slow and sloggy. I use them as my office cans and think they are just right for that duty. Quite open so I can hear a knock or the phone ringing and very, very comfortable. Good choice.
  2. went the 7 3/4
  3. K
  4. Hope things are going well with the new company and all, Sir Yikes. Have a great one! Cheers!
  5. Yup. They had pretty clear arrangements and even used sheet music too! I couldn't convince my mother-in-law of that though. She enjoyed it but she hasn't been to a real jazz show in 40+ years and she was saying it was all pure improvisation back in the day and it still sounded that way to her now. The whole discussion was funny but hard to translate to thread-speak.
  6. ?? is more like it! You'll get it done though, I'm certain.
  7. Oh yeah, that meet! I was out of it that day and missed the raffle altogether. That was cool of you.
  8. Good stuff!
  9. Looking forward to it. Did UPS come through?
  10. Thanks for the pic, Steve. I don't recall for sure, but I thought the CD thing didn't happen. I am not even sure which meet that was for, so my memory is iffy.
  11. I have two to add. I saw the Wayne Shorter Quartet with the Immani Winds Quintet last Friday. Very cool, and Shorter certainly still can blow. The Quartet songs were the best, by far, but the combined numbers were pretty cool too. There were a couple of Quartet songs that were simply stunning, and the interplay of his rhythm section is great. I especially liked drummer Brian Blade and he really riffed amazingly with both pianist Danilo Perez and bassist John Patitucci (who are great themselves). Great stuff, here's a taste: YouTube - Joy Ryder - Wayne Shorter Quartet Tift Merritt was last night, and it was a really good show. She was kind of a more rockin' Alison Krauss with a smaller group and no dobro. Anyway, I liked the show and she has a great voice. Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek opened and Denmont Tench joined her on his night off from Tom Petty's Mudcrutch tour. She had a fabulous voice and played fiddle or ukelele, while Tench jammed on the organ or piano. Good stuff, including a cool cover "I go to sleep" by the Pretenders.
  12. I have flown many times with amps, often two of them at a time, and they have asked me what the amp was one time. No discussion, just asked.
  13. My hat size is 7 1/2 easy and 7 3/4 is better with long hair. NogginZ Rule!
  14. Zippy needs to post a pic of himself. He has claimed he was going to attend Bay Area meets before, but I have never seen him and don't have proof he exists.
  15. I can't see the needle, but it sure looks like JP just fixed.
  16. I gotta make it down to EC Heaven one of these days. Looks like you folks had a fine time and the gear selection was sweet. Very interested to hear the Balancing Act's status, and especially the 300B/45 rolling options. Dew eet Craig! I want one!
  17. Greatest bed ever. Just ask Gene.

    Hey, that's my job!
  19. Ooohh! My imagination is salivating.... Oh, and I meant to say that the final stage looks very sweet on the PS.
  20. Shit yeah! Heavy is good. Can't wait to hear it in SoFla.
  21. What is a "tinker's cuss" anyway?
  22. Why feel bad about liking the Ed. 9s even if some people here don't like them? I like my Ed. 9s very much and even more after getting them balanced. I think that the Beta22 I bought from thrice is going to make them very happy. Although they sound excellent on my SDS-XLR, I believe that sovkiller is right that they respond better to solid state for some reason. I have had that experience on other occasions, although it is usually the other direction because some cans (HP-2) only really sound good with tube gear. Now, on the other hand, even though I have never heard the 780s I am still quite convinced that any positives about them on HF are warped. People whose ears I trust have said they suck and why, so if you don't like the sound of them, then you are proving your ears not flawed.
  23. Yes, my pair will be there. Plus, I will bring the Ed. 9s.
  24. I don't think the BX5a are bright at all, but I don't crank them up to often. The BX8a are more than the 5a, but something called GigaSonic.com has the 8a for $349, which is a good deal. One thing to note is that the inputs are either XLR or 1/4 TRS jacks. I use an RCA -> XLR adapter cable because my office source does not have a balanced/XLR output. Works just fine. Good luck.
