    AKG 340

There was no line, I just saw Smeggy's thread and had been thinking of putting my stock pair up for sale. They have velour pads and AKG replaced the original curly cable with a new curly cable (prior owner did that for some reason). I have the old cable and the original vinyl pads if you want them. The elastics are in good shape too. If you are not really ready to buy I will just post something up, so no worries.

I have heard yours before, Ken, and I would say that they are not bass-heavy but I don't know how to distinguish between middle and lighter or it there really is such a distinction.

Your mom wants hard to drive old-school AKGs? Assuming Smeggy doesn't want them, tell me what you [your mom] would pay.

Mine are not bass-heavy model, btw. If you need a better deal, I can work something out but I think I paid $230 or something for them.

I am about to sell a nice pair for $200 or so if you are interested. Let me know.
  8. I was having dinner, so anybody countering the Bush apologist is good enough for me. And maybe you were a little more detached earlier but you didn't seem to quibble over the idiocy of this war.
  9. My liberal clap-trap from a couple pages ago was surpassed by the speed of this thread. Oh well. For now I will just say Fuck Bush and Fuck This Stupid, Stupid Pointless War. Keep up the good work, Mike.
  10. Afghanistan was warranted to some extent. Iraq was just Teddy Roosevelt, pick up where Daddy screwed up and left off, imperialism because Saddam was the kind of vicious dictator we DON'T like. Of course, we have installed many fucking brutal bastards over the years trying to influence other countries, but if they spout "democracy" lingo then so what if they maim and kill their population? I am not exactly an isolationist, or anything, but Iraq was idiotic and gung-ho and is costing up billions upon trillions of dollars for NOTHING. We cannot win and as soon as a Democrat wins this election and figures out some way to pull out, that mess will revert to all-out anarchy and fundamentalism and tribal in-fighting. Man, these last couple cocktails are going to my head, but I believe every word and thank Allah that I am not on HF where this topic would be verboten.
  11. I just listened to one of two new Blue Note Hoffman releases, Undercurrents by Kenny Drew and a bunch of jazz heroes. IT IS AWESOME! I had never even heard the album (unless I checked it out on Rhapsody when I signed up for the Blue Note series). Anyway, these are even better than the Fantasy 45s as an overall package, and I am torn on whether to just order up the Acoustic Sounds Blue Note series as well... \
  12. I totally agree that this is a departure album while still being true to their [super]nature. Sorry for the bad pun. Anyway, somebody in these parts hooked me up with the tracks as well, and I have not yet bought the disc but that will be remedied soon. Good to hear about the deluxe edition, I will look for it.
  13. Good idea Nate, and good luck with the next one! Sorry about the Apple upgrade story, Salty, I have been burned by them so many times it is hard to remember them all. I still love Apple and want them to come out with new stuff, it is just when they are off their normal schedule like this that it cuts even deeper.
  14. Have a great one tomorrow mr. grawk.
  15. Not from Toronado, my dear. That would be sacrilege! And Santa forgot his glass, so I ended up with that one too!
  16. Hey thrice, did you steal that blinky neon DT sign from Toronado?
  17. OK, where do I find them? Have any for sale?
  18. Oh well, I pulled the trigger on this deal and the seller agreed to deliver it to me on Tuesday. Nice. I am going to be staying in a hotel downtown for a few days, so I guess I can use my iMod or laptop through the Pico as a source and have a pretty damn fine "road rig." Thanks for all the input on my questions. Much appreciated. Now, I just have to find out for myself if the O2 is all that or not. Then, I will be able to compare with the 4070 as soon as Todd gets those delivered to me. I guess that makes me a pretty clear member of the Stax Mafia, in addition to the AKG Mafia, the Ultrasone Mafia, the Sony Mafia, the Grado Mafia, the Sennheiser Mafia, the Shure Mafia, etc.
  19. Who would take that sucker bet? Happy Birthday Ed! Slur away!
  20. Does the new 007tII require re-biasing?
  21. Is this 007t self-biasing or do I have to mess with that?
  22. Thanks for the responses, guys. It seems like decent deal, but not the best. Others have sold relatively recently on HF for less, but without all the extras.
  23. That would really make the deal, now wouldn't it! Anyway, I don't like the way he has the O2 cord wrapped around and under the stand, but what the hell...
  24. OK Staxen, I have a question: A local guy has the following for $2300, firm: STAX Omega II's Earspeaker plus 007t Tube Amplifier. Please note that photos shows that this comes complete with 20 ft extension cord, earspeaker stand with clear plastic cover which were all extra cost items you would want. What say you on the deal-meter? I am buying a 4070 also, and was considering the 007tII new, although I have not checked out prices yet. I am also thinking of giving the O2s a real shot since so many people say that they are all that when given time.
