December 14, 201114 yr comment_486196 I would like to build my new balanced rig properly. Should a source have male or female XLR terminals, and again what should the amp have? Report
December 14, 201114 yr comment_486202 Generally, people use male on the source, and female on the amp. Report

January 25, 201313 yr comment_558199 Just to piggyback onto this thread (instead of making a "Stoopid Questions" thread, which should probably be a sticky for me anyway). For balanced cabling (say for a headphone), I assume the normal is for standard size XLRs, and not minis? For a 4 pin XLR, is standard pinout: 1 L+ 2 L- 3 R+ 4 R- Since I haven't really used balanced much, I'm sure I'll have more questions... Edited January 25, 201313 yr by Pars Report
January 25, 201313 yr comment_558201 Yup, that's the 4-pin layout that I've always used and if you ever need confirmation just look up the K1000 manual, that's where it all started as far as I can remember. Report
