September 20, 201312 yr comment_600071 I run compact 50/34 with 11-28 and I don't ever feel like Jeff does about it. Only the 3 largest rings are different. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600076 Jeff I brought my Calfee I of course have not ridden your bikes but I had a choice between the two on the roads around here I would go Calfee. The softer Calfee would probably be more comfortable on the rough roads. I keep thinking I need to take out the Calfee but each time I go to pick a bike there is never any desire to take the heavy bike. I need to start taking it on trips so it actually gets used. Add to that the fact that I haven't ridden in weeks I am probably leaning towards the Cervelo. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600077 its hard to do this with a regular scale, but my bike is weighing in at 16.6lb ready for riding, with the garmin computer and cadence sensor mounted, CF bottle cages, and speedplay frog pedals. lighter road pedals will take off about 0.1lb. i would guess for about what i paid for the bike i could get this to 15.0 Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600083 Justin wheels(used), seat post, handlebars and stem would easily get you there. As you say though it would run about 2k. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600085 Back at the shop getting Vectors number 2 installed. Wish me luck. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600087 Good luck. I am hoping that I will be able to figure them out. Keeping the Quarq anyway so if they break I have a stopgap Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600093 Fail. Evidently the Garmin will not fit on my thick FSA carbon crank arms. The POS pod binds against the crank arm when tightened down. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600095 Even with the spacer washers? You have to add the washers until it doesn't bind. Edited September 20, 201312 yr by Dreadhead Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600096 It will only fit on a crank arm of 38mm or less. Basically skinny stuff. The 44 FSA will not work. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600097 There is not enough connection cable once you put on the washers so the thing will not connect and power up the PM. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600098 That sucks man. Get your money back. Sorry that it won't work for you. I would not have thought of that issue. That said their engineers probably should have. Power2Max released a bunch of cheap crank based solutions that look good if you still want a power meter. You can always borrow mine to see if you like having one once my Vectors are here. September 20, 201312 yr Author comment_600103 I see Team Not Florida has been active here the past few days. Team Florida sucks. Mike seems to have given up cycling. John's ignoring my phone calls, and Raffy is too far away. I'm riding this weekend if John or Mike wants to stop being lame. Nice bike, Justin. Report
September 20, 201312 yr comment_600107 We tested it on a few setups. The Vectors will not work on the Dura-Ace crank as it is too wide but it will work on stock SRAM Red, barely. Anything over 38mm wide will not work until they get a new version of the pod prepared. We tested it with the Garmin 800 on a R3 with Rotor crank arms that worked and could not get the left pedal to show. The right pedal would work but it was showing nothing for left. The 810 that the store manager associated with the power meter showed both. Report
September 21, 201312 yr Author comment_600117 Doesn't sound like it's ready for primetime yet, Jeff. Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600118 Doesn't sound like it's ready for primetime yet, Jeff. This. Take your $ and run (or ride in this case). Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600119 Yeah I gave up. All I left with is a scraped up carbon crank arm. Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600120 Getting time to consider cold weather stuffs again. Anybody have a pair of tights they are fond of or even a pair they hated? Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600121 Yup take your money and back away. They are planning on longer pods but no time frame yet. I can't believe your store scratched your crank though. They can blame garmin if they like but that's on them in my book. I don't know what is going on with regards to the Red compatibility as the pictures on DC Rainmaker are pretty clear that it works fine. We'll see. Edited September 21, 201312 yr by Dreadhead Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600127 It works for Red, not Dura Ace. Red is a much thinner Crank Arm. Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600130 I really don't understand what is going on as I knew I had seen them on Dura Ace too:http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-gear/cycle-life/Testing-the-New-Garmin-Vector-Pedals.html?page=allThis guy was testing them on da9000. All very weird. Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600133 Yeah it looks like plenty of clearance on those. The DA are well over the 38 max that Garmin supports but it is definitely narrower than the FSA so it probably has room for the cord to plug all the way in. On mine the pod was not touching the crank arm with three washers. But with the three washers the little connector cord would not reach to engage the plug. September 21, 201312 yr comment_600141 SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAS HAPPENED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THAT FORK! Report
September 21, 201312 yr comment_600144 That should work well on some TN trails, Zach. Oh... Zach, Justin... why no drivetrain side pics? If you're going to have bike porn, don't have black bars over the sexy part. Though, the black ENVE bar is kinda hot. **BRENT** Report
