I picked up two rare EPs by the excellent (and criminally ignored) Canadian group Perfume Tree. I got Fathom the Sky and the uber-rare Roots EP. The latter turns out to be an official CDR from the band, ca. 1999. I got quite lucky getting it for $10 in a Buy It Now auction. Bidding wars for rare Perfume Tree can get ugly. I've seen the Remote EP bring well over $100.

UltraDisc 1 :prettyprincess:

I'm going to slow down my music purchases after I complete my Can and Gong discography.

A combination of a lack of funds and not really being excited about anything new has left me not having made any musical purchases in a while :( Time to continue to explore the ignored parts of my existing CD collection.

So...you're already familiar with Birthday Massacre? Or are they not alternative enough for you?
So...you're already familiar with Birthday Massacre?

I've heard of them but never actually heard them... I received some promotional material about them when ordering from Metropolis Records before, but never checked them out. Worth looking into?

Or are they not alternative enough for you?

Hey, what's that supposed to mean? :D Though I suppose it's better than Dan assuming I only listen to some stuff because of an attractive front woman. :D :D :D

I'm listening to their (many) samples on their MySpace page and I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying them... Your Garbage/Curve comparison seems right on the mark. I'll definitely be looking into tracking down some of their stuff... Thanks for the recommendation!

Ian's music is win. Most of it anyway. Leave his BDSM (is that even it) side alone. :)

Oh, and me:

Depeche Mode, Black Celebration SACD+DVD (the last of my collection)

Miles Davis, It's About That Time (the '69 one, not the '70 one)

Chris Rea, Blue Guitars (I'm a big Chris Rea fan, and even with the weak dollar, this was worth getting)
