Tank.  German movie that's been dubbed over and where the captions don't match the voice over....dizzying.

Interesting movie overall.

Watching on Amazon requires selecting German as the language and English for the subtitles, which is a huge improvement over the trailer of dubbed crap. 👍🏻

comments turned off - wonder why.

Yeah, he's really just a shill for Skynet our soon-to-be-bot-overlords.

That said, I was still very interested in everything he said about Vera Rubin.  (The hardware platform that he just introduced.)  Their usual rule is only change one or two things.  They threw that out with this iteration and completely redesigned everything.

My theory:  they == AI.  I don't think they actually were directly involved with the design.

Having spent most of my life working in the cleared sector, no-one in the government that I knew would let this pass muster.

Additional editorial note:  The only way we are going to be able to defeat Skynet AI-used-for-evil is AI-used-for-good.

And we are way behind with that.

We are so fucked as a planet.

first episode of season 3 of American Gods

How are you liking it. I stopped sometime in season one as I got disobey life, but should rewatch and get caught up. Where are they at in the story line season 3? Have they moved on further from the book at this point?

So...yes and no.  I wouldn't say it moved further than the book, so much as...expanded everything -- character development of every single character, the detail of side quests, the cinematography, &c.  You got some necessary updates, but also TV shows have to do TV show things, so every cast member has to be in every episode (mostly). At least, for the duration of the story arc.

It has gotten quite meandery, and somewhat slightly bloated.  At least it doesn't fall into the trap of Westworld, where it gets so abstract I'm not sure what the intention was.

And yes, Ian McShane gets to sing in one episode again, just like he did in that one episode of Deadwood.
