Jem - Finally Woken

Big fan. Jem and Imogen Heap kickstarted my love of British female vocalists, which now dominates many a playlist.

I bought a bunch of their albums after hearing this one on rhapsody. I haven't listened to all of them yet, but what I like about this one is it is more sparse. No drumset, just bongos. Its just really cool sounding.

Her new album is unfortunately awful (IMO).

No argument here. I appreciate "finally woken" all the more for it.

I saw her live. Her band started playing "Sweet Home Alabama", and she shrugged. They went back and forth a little bit, and it was established that she was too young to know that song (and apparently didn't listen to classic rock radio). Made me feel old.

Still...love her. :ian:
