I'm stuck on this song, "Hook Me Up", by The Veronicas, from about 3 years ago (orly? I only just discovered it). I realize that nothing else they've done is anything like that, but given that...any other recommendations? Keywords: hooky, catchy, synthpop, new wave, retro.

The bottom bass line reminds me a lot of Soft Cell's Tainted Love

Elvis Costello - Sweet, Profane and Sugarcane. Just gave it another try. It tries way too hard, like a lot of his albums of late, to prove that he's the mostest versatilest of them all, and that he can do jazz, or classical, or bluegrass (which I guess this is supposed to be).

Wish he would just get back to being one of the best damned rockers there ever was. He can still do that! It's still 90% of what his shows are all about. Ehhh, I guess he's entitled. He can do whatever he wants to do, he's made it, he's got a hot and talented wife, he doesn't need to worry about a thing. Oh well, I'll keep buying 'em and trying 'em. One of these days he'll get back at it.

Near 17 years old and as amazing today as it was then.
