August 23, 200916 yr Author I'll definitely be making sure that the area around it is masked off with masking tape before starting. The SR-71's are finished in terms of paint, all that's left is the routing and painting of the baffles, along with the mounting of the parts on the back.
August 24, 200916 yr Author Installed port and jacks on the mini's and finished clear coating the SR-71's. The result:
August 24, 200916 yr Exquisite! (at the same does the Italian fingers together thing to indicate pleasure)
August 24, 200916 yr what looks to me like curly maple, ... Does it say Dr. Wood next to your avatar? Nooooooooo! I'm the fuckin' Doctor...I'll take care of the diagnosis, thank you very much! :p
August 24, 200916 yr Author Haha....let him think it's curly maple Thank you all for the compliments, I'm rather flattered!
August 25, 200916 yr Author Had a massive failure on my part today, when routing the countersink for the tweeter I cut it as 4 1/4" instead of 4 1/8" so there's now a gap of 1/8" between the tweeter flange and baffle. Unfortunately I don't have the time right now to redo the baffle so I'll press on and finish it as is. It's a good thing I decided to go with a removable baffle

August 25, 200916 yr Author Good idea! Will probably have to use a rabbet bit to cut the countersink larger, but it should be workable! Thanks for the idea!
August 25, 200916 yr That Nate is a smart fellow! That's exactly what I would do. It'll be a nice feature too.
August 25, 200916 yr It is worth noting that in order to provide the above "smart" suggestion one must also have made the same dumb mistake. That reminds me of one of my favorite quotes (paraphrased), "Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment."
August 25, 200916 yr I noticed that smartNate had the same approach to mistakes that a certain drummer friend of mine had -- if he made a mistake, he repeated it, so it would seem like it was done on purpose. He was universally regarded as an amazing drummer. Nate smart!
August 25, 200916 yr Watch out Vince Vaughn already has a huge head! He also has some of my gear. Hince the ass kissing remarks.
August 25, 200916 yr He also has some of my gear. Hince the ass kissing remarks. Sorry Steve, I bring the suck lately.
