October 12, 201015 yr Is that the internal of your Sony DAC, Doug? I'm curious, but I've no use for another DAC and if I change my mind, I'm sure there'll be a glut of these in the used market after the FOTM dies down. I'm also skeptical of the 12/1/10 release date considering their past history.
October 12, 201015 yr Keep in mind from dcpoors link, there were several earlier dates, so Dec. may already have Emotivas famous delays built-in.
October 12, 201015 yr Author If it sounds as good or better than the ERC-1 cdp then it will be well worth the $300.
October 12, 201015 yr Author I reserved one but I really don't need it so I may not complete the transaction so no one should count on dibs from me.
October 12, 201015 yr I reserved one but I really don't need it so I may not complete the transaction so no one should count on dibs from me. plus I got dibs last night.
October 12, 201015 yr Author This is true. Maybe I should buy it and send it on a tour. Not sure why I should be so generous to a bunch of good for nothing dibbers.
October 12, 201015 yr Opamp I/V however: # I/V conversion: Burr Brown OPA-2134 Is that something that can be easily upgraded with a drop-in chipsy?
October 12, 201015 yr I wish not all buttons were lit-up. I think that just makes it too busy looking.
October 12, 201015 yr I wish not all buttons were lit-up. I think that just makes it too busy looking. x2. So far have liked Emotivas sound and disliked their 'high-tech' goofy home theater stylin'. Even used to reverse the RPA-2 amp because I preferred to look at input/outputs rather than the bright blue lights.
October 12, 201015 yr Is that something that can be easily upgraded with a drop-in chipsy? That's something that should have been in the "discrete output stage". Probably the biggest single benefit of a discrete stage is to handle the I/V, preferably without feedback (IMHO). Not sure why they tout a discrete stage that is basically a buffer. Oh I guess it is also a preamp with volume control. EDIT: for $299, a lot of value here though... you can't have everything at a low price Edited October 12, 201015 yr by Pars
October 12, 201015 yr Thanks for a thread with a title like that. Now the Eagles tune is stuck in my head.
October 12, 201015 yr Those Silver faceplate trim pieces are just begging to be remade in exotic wood!
October 12, 201015 yr Thanks for a thread with a title like that. Now the Eagles tune is stuck in my head. Thanks for pointing it out. I hadn't noticed, but now I am humming the Eagles as well.

October 12, 201015 yr Is that something that can be easily upgraded with a drop-in chipsy? Probably. I'll think about a recommendation on that one. That's something that should have been in the "discrete output stage". Probably the biggest single benefit of a discrete stage is to handle the I/V, preferably without feedback (IMHO). Not sure why they tout a discrete stage that is basically a buffer. Oh I guess it is also a preamp with volume control. EDIT: for $299, a lot of value here though... you can't have everything at a low price Current steering amp w/o feedback probably would have been costly on the R/D side, especially if they wanted nice numbers for the specs as it would have required pretty heroic EC; probably not practicable.
October 12, 201015 yr Where did that 12/1 ship date line go? Not listed in menu currently either. Wonder how many orders they got in the last 24? Emotiva Audio XDA-1 Digital-to-Analog Converter Edited October 12, 201015 yr by blessingx
October 12, 201015 yr If I remember correctly, 12/1 ship date was already gone this morning (~8am EST).
October 12, 201015 yr Author ^ Woohoo, more for rest of us! Yeah, probably should have ordered a couple of more.
