I started a new "pictures of your portable rig" thread way too early to get a rise out of people. The picture I posted was my zen vision m hooked up to my RSA sr-71 amp hooked up to a pair of Ibuds. After that started to cause a fuss I would swap out that pic for some of the most vulgar photographic prints from robert mapplethorpe and joel peter witkin. Then swap them out for the original before the mods took notice. although the vulgar pictures aren't there anymore, you can still see the aftermath of people freaking out in pictures of your portable rig part vii, it's the most current one.

I would post a pic of a mutilated head in the "post a pic of the last thing you bought" and then talk about it like it's not, or I'm not aware, that it's a picture of a mutilated head. I would talk about how I wasn't very pleased with the battery life with this years model but the resolution of the lcd screen on the unit was crystal clear. It caused general confusion and amusment for the people that got the joke, but was completely deleted by morning.

I've got to get back to work for a bit, but will be on and off the computer all day. I'm curious how safe a harbor is this? Can I get away with dissing head-fi here? I'd also love to post some of those pics I got banned for there but don't want to cause a fuss here. I only did the pranks over there because after a thousand posts and around 100 posts deleted I was annoyed by how moderated the site is.

sure, if you want to be banned. there aren't many rules here, but respect the ones that exist if you want to stay here and have fun. they really are of the common sense variety, should be easy.

Of course, I was only pointing out that head-fi also has a NSFW policy but obviously the philosophies here are much different than there, which I appreciate. I can understand that I must seem sketchy coming in here and what I'm sure must look like boasting that I was banned at another site for some monkeyshines. I'm not boasting, I'm not even particularly proud of what I did. I had simply had it with the moderation there of things that I felt shouldn't have been moderated. After a couple of years of seeing things getting deleted, I instinctually met the rough stone facade of authority with absurdity.

One a side note all of the images that I posted on head-fi are not censored in america. They can be seen by anybody of any age at the modern and contemporary arts museums were they reside. But agian don't worry I'm not on some screwy rampage. I'll respect the boundaries here.

Albeit, yet no one has been banned from Head-Case to date. As far as I can tell those that were chastised away didn't post prohibited content and/or language, but some, if not most, found their posting practices and online persona to be unworthy of respect or even trustworthy to put it lightly. At least that

Sorry, I went to bed right after I wrote my first message. I used to be aaroncort on head-fi. I was banned for screwing around and playing pranks. The last straw was when they found out I had two accounts and was still posting after a temporary ban.

So is there a lot of head-fi animosity here? I don't hold anything against them other than that they moderate their forums far too much for my liking. It's a social place, but they don't allow you to be very social. the last time I was temporarily banned was for making a beat-off joke for christs sake. I don't know anything about Jude but to me it seems that he's worked in an office for far too long and many years of office politics has sucked all the fun out of him.

...But who knows? I'm just a bitter ex head-fi-er. ;D

I just checked that thread (god I hate the portable forum), if you wanted to do it the proper way you host the images on your own server so that you can change them out on your end instead of editing the post (leaving proof for others to see, like a few people called you out on).

Looks like the mods were one step ahead of you.

Someone should do that with one of the huge picture threads like the "damn you head-fi" thread. It would be pretty funny to scroll through the posts of people's systems and then suddenly come upon a picture of Tubgirl.

that link should have been labeled as NSFW, though it was obvious from the context that it was pornography of some sort. as long as it's labeled or obvious, links are ok because it's the members choice to click on the link. inline images take that choice away from the viewing member.

I have such tremendous respect for this attitude. I'm amazed that it isn't the predominating one for online entities.

I can still do this with photobucket. All you have to do is delete the photo and replace it with a different photo with the same name as the original. That way the image will change when people quote the questionable image.

Another thing I liked to do there was to quote somebody but change ithe matirial to something offensive after all my kooky-nes, and then pretend to take great umbrage to the edited quote.

I just used a proxy to go back to head-fi and noticed that the pictures of your portable rig part vii was greatly deleted to get rid of a few pages of confused banter. Oh well, it was there for months. I'm amazed that if they didn't notice it in the first few months that they found it at all. Oh well.

Being chased out is hardly the same as being banned.

It's not just "don't post NSFW links", it's also "don't do anything illegal" -- and yes, there are things you can post that would count as illegal, especially if they're followed with or preceded by action. This is not a head-case rule, this is a live-in-america rule. So things like links to snuff films, child pornography, &c. would be illegal, marked as such or not.

So you can say things like "you sick fuck", but I wouldn't recommend saying things like "you go to hell and die", because that could be interpreted as a threat, and would raise a big ol' red flag.

Unless, of course, you're quoting South Park.

You know, as soon as I wrote that, I thought, "someone's going to tell me to go to hell and die", but I thought I'd just let it happen anyway. I even thought of it during the edit window...the only incorrect part of the prediction is that I thought it was going to be someone else.

Hell is a place of perpetual pain and torment;

Hell is a place where the smells are overwhelming;

Hell is a place where a lot of things happen, but you're never sure what's going on;

Hell is a place where you can't ever find the CD you want to listen to right now.
