HiWire Posted February 10 Report Posted February 10 Girl Talk - Unstoppable (2006) Less flowingly cohesive than his later mashup albums, but promising. 1
mikeymad Posted February 18 Report Posted February 18 Lumen by Bill Laurance (2026) https://open.qobuz.com/album/ihvdhfokx5irc Example: Jazz - but more. From Snarky Puppy. Soundtrack vibes, and I think he has scored some things as well. But enough interest for me to explore.
mikeymad Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 (edited) We Like It Here by Snarky Puppy (2014) https://open.qobuz.com/album/aazibgbisyolb Example: Killer set. After some research this was a Live in Studio - which they filmed. So: Playlist. I do like me some snarky. Edited February 26 by mikeymad 2 2

blessingx Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 ^ While on the subject, The Netherlands' Tiny Desk(ish). 2
mikeymad Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 From All Sides by Vince Guaraldi (1964) https://open.qobuz.com/album/v8c45tsbx2ekb Example: Ah Bola.. Not super fidelity on this album, but a very nice listen. 5
blessingx Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 (edited) Jazz in the Movies: Chet Baker Performing (which he only does on seven of the 18 tracks). This Italian release is under various titles and various track listings, so whatever you find, may or may not be the same album, but this version is a good listen as you wind down the work week (yes, I'm mentally winding down at 9am). Also not to be confused with the Jazz on Film: Italian series, which is much more comprehensive and I probably need to buy next. Ex. EDIT: Just bought. Edited March 6 by blessingx 5
robm321 Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I like the new Gorillaz album. Qobuz link Feeling this one tonight. 4
mikeymad Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 ^^ in my queue, looking forward to it. The Magnificent Moodies by The Moody Blues (1965) https://open.qobuz.com/album/urxbgzj4qgepc Example: 5
blessingx Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 Not sure if this is widely known, but I only found out about it today on The Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack Show. Seems the first three Space: 1999 episodes were stitched together and released theatrically in Italy. And they got Ennio Morricone to do the soundtrack! It's very different than Barry Gray's. Import CD purchased, below is a sample, and the whole thing is streaming on some Hungarian site. Fun! Ex. (put on your seat belts) 3 1
mikeymad Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 Once again Tiny Desk inspiration. Several years ago Madi did a Tiny Desk At Home that led me to her Album at the time - "History Of A Feeling" which I really liked. And then I lost track of her and she has put out 4 albums since. oops. So... Fatal Optimist by Madi Diaz (2025) https://open.qobuz.com/album/nsfpkr7hq7ric Example: Good album. I will have to check out the others she has released. 4

mikeymad Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (Bande originale du film) by Yann Tiersen (2001) https://open.qobuz.com/album/zliipnmsqpfhb Example: Been discovering some more of Tiersen's work - so I might as well listen to some of the best. 1
mikeymad Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Kick Out The Jams by MC5 (1969) https://open.qobuz.com/album/0603497885787 Example: A little morning MC5!! 1
mikeymad Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 (moved from beverage thread) Grace Under Pressure (Super Deluxe) by Rush (1984) https://open.qobuz.com/album/fpz7sd7tvobor Example: Okay, I know that I have shit on Deluxe, Super Deluxe, Ultimate Editions in the past. And I have to say I was worried about this release. But how could Rush disappoint me? Well they didn't... No demos, no Alt takes, no unreleased tracks. Just a new remaster of the Album, followed by a new Mix of the Album (Terry Brown). And then for fun the entire live show from September 21, 1984. That is how you do a deluxe album my friends... Thanks as always Rush... 🙏🤘 3
