  3. RIP Peter Cullen voice of Optimus Prime. He has become one with the matrix.
  4. Sorry to see this! RIP José Luis......96, amazing! I hope it was a life so well-lived.
  5. What a fucking horrible few days....! Dolly, Tim..... Add to that one of my childhood crushes, Jaye P. Morgan. Saw her on the Gong Show, once wearing a blue jumpsuit and blue make-up (eye-liner and lipstick) and that was it for me. And the time she stripped off her shirt (no bra) for Gene Gene the Dancing Machine segment.....oy! I guess that got her kicked off though.... Loved her on that show. Also, RIP Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese artist known for her wild polka-dot images. Several years ago, Karen and I saw an example of her Infinity Room demo at the Tate Gallery..... In pictures: The dotty world of Japanese artist Yayoi KusamaKusama was known for creating extraordinary immersive worlds that delighted millions of visitors.
  6. It’s just a bad year. My uncle José Luis, my father’s oldest brother, passed this morning at 96. Fulminant prostate cancer.

  11. I wonder if I had a biscuit if it would help with the big, beautiful obituary... RIP to the greats Dolly and Tim.
  12. I just found this funny...
  13. It's apparently a bad year to be 80.

  15. Wuhoo! We're 75% of the way there on fundraising with a little over two weeks to go.
  16. RIP to the King of Camp. Maybe now he can finish his sesame cake in peace. https://youtu.be/8fbGbPwKbQA?is=msZIpML46esPDHp-
  17. Tim Curry, star of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Stephen King’s It, dies aged 80 https://www.theguardian.com/film/2026/aug/26/tim-curry-dies-rocky-horror-show-stephen-king-it-legend-film?CMP=share_btn_url
  18. Basia - the background instruments sound like something out of a Sega Genesis game... maybe Streets of Rage or Shinobi (I mean that in a good way):
  19. So returning to physical media I've bought a few used box sets. My favorite silly purchase is The Complete Bill Evans on Verve, which I'm now starting the first of the 18 CDs. Note future box set designers: if you're tempted to create an untreated metal box that "naturally rusts" don't. "The design of the box is reminiscent of that of a block of apartment houses I saw in Bratislava shortly after the Communist regime collapsed in Eastern Europe." Ex.

  22. RIP Tim Curry
  23. Kind of lost in the shuffle, actress Shelly Fabares died on Aug 22. RIP Shelly and condolences to her husband, Mike Farrell.
  24. Tip Toe Very good. Clever script, good storytelling, awesome acting.
  25. Although I never saw Dolly Parton in concert, we were lucky enough to see Emmy Lou Harris earlier this year in Birmingham Symphony Hall (UK). At 79, she'd lost her highest notes, but she was absolutely awesome. After a couple of mumbly numbers she said to the sound mixer at the stage side "Can you please rebalance the sound, and bring my voice up" That did the trick!
  26. Legend. 😔 I think what I loved about her so much is that she had a very self-aware yet positive outlook on life. This is such a lovely window into how she views and portrays herself:
