  3. Today
  4. Thanks all, it's great to be back.
  5. Jack is just getting into the Simpsons and we just watched the Mr. Plow episode, so I got to tell him about your Linda Ronstadt story.
  6. Helmsman/Navigator, Master Gunner/Quartermaster, Cook/Surgeon, Shipwright/Powder Monkey, Boatswain/Mystic... Captain/Master-at-arms in the front The Shipwright/Powder Monkey is the Tinkerer (reskinned Wizard) and will have an actual Monkey familiar that will be trained to assist the Gunner with the cannons. It's a little blurry, but the swashbuckler with the Rapier has a hooked hand, which I love. The fishman karate master will use natural weapons or improvised weapons like mops, oars, etc. I'm having way too much fun with this, lol.
  7. Happy Birthday!!!
  8. ^my thoughts exactly, including the parenthetical.
  9. Now we know why you reappeared when you did -- in time for a happy birthday thread! 😂 Hope you and the family are feeling better and can celebrate your big day, Jay! Cheers!
  10. Yesterday
  11. Dvorák: Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95 "From the New World" by Leonard Bernstein (1962) https://open.qobuz.com/album/5099706056324 Example: Poking around at some versions. (no, not a full survey). I really like the lyricism of Lenny's interpretation, I am in favor of the power of the Karajan recording above. Originally a CBS Masterworks recording, Sony turned up the volume and released when acquired.
  12. Happy Birthday!!!
  13. nice... If not ready for Christmas, there is new years, MLK day, President's day, Juneteenth, Talk Like a Pirate Day, next thanksgiving.... etc. (fuck you matt)
  14. Yes!
  15. Fuck it. I made a full batch. Cheers Matt!
  16. After listening for a while (and getting the output under control: it's HOT out of the box), I think the DAC3 is a subtle audio upgrade, but a noticeable one. The voicing is just so similar to the DAC1 that I didn't notice it at first. Also, trying out DSD audio for the first time.
  17. Damn, those Daytonas are stunners! I had an opportunity to buy one in yellow gold for a good price about 10 years ago. I should have taken it.
  18. Jimmy Cliff was an absolute legend. I saw The Harder They Come on VHS in the 1980s when I was entirely too young for such things. It left a lasting impact on me.
  19. Look at this moldering (or in this case, mouldering) old geezers. L to R: Some UK psytrance DJ named Liquid Ross that I cannot pretend to care about, Dr. Alex Patterson AKA Mr. The Orb and some Irish ginger who is simultaneously the most most important figure and biggest bell-end in all of IDM AKA Richard Dinklage James the Aphex Twinkie himself.
  20. That's a stunner! Love my chocolate on an oysterflex strap...zero regrets. Enjoy! HS I realized I never posted it....
  21. Happy Birthday,
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. A slightly different kind of speaker porn. In the early 90s I was prone to spacing out and doodling in class, in stead of doing what I was supposed to be doing. This pattern explains a lot about ...everything that has followed since. A month or so ago I was going through some of the myriad of paperwork that made it with me from the mainland. In it I found a really old school notebook. Most of it was fantastically uninteresting (I have not cared about the Sumerians for 35 years and counting) but I did find one page that had some amusing doodles on it: We've got a couple cars, an attempt at a Roland TB-303 Bassline, what might be a Marshall half stack and ...two attempts at one very iconic speaker design. That's a Legacy Audio Whisper. I was one of the cool kids, I tell you.
  24. Happy Birthday!
  25. RIP to two people: Jimmy Cliff, and Udo Kier. Without knowing Udo so well, I realize I have admired his work in several horror or other movies.... And Jimmy Cliff....not much needs saying....another big one lost IMO
  26. Happy Birthday! Don't know you well, but always great to see an "old name" come back!
  27. Happy birthday!
