Hello all. First post on this great site... I just got an Apogee Duet that I'll be connecting to my Macbook Pro. Right now, all I have is the MBP, Duet, & a pair of AudioEngine A5's (powered speakers). I got powered speakers because I wanted to avoid having to buy an amp (for now--I'll upgrade speaker system & maybe get an amp months down the road). Let's assume that I do not want to add any additional hardware: what headphones can be driven by the Duet's headphone amp ( & sound "good" in the process)? Can I get, say, Sennheiser HD600 (or 650) & be o.k. w/ how the Duet amp drives them? For example, I've read somewhere else that cans like Grados (not …

I got really tempted when the Focal Utopia and Elear price reduction was announced a week or so ago. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a pair of Elear after coming across the free headphone stand deal at headphones.com (their customer service is first rate so far by the way). Unfortunately my orders of headphone plugs and wire have not arrived so I am stuck with the 4m long, singe-ended Focal standard issue cable at the moment. My Dynalo is not cased yet so I had to make do with my DIYZONE Iris OTL headphone amp.

I've been in a state of bliss over the last week since getting my HD650s with the Headroom Balanced Amp. I'd forgotten how much fun it could be to listen to music. I'm so happy that I just spent $5,000 on a CD player, which has convinced my friends that I've gone over the edge. And then it happened... I noticed a really persistent ringing in my ears. I've tried to be really easy on the volume, but it seems like the headphones don't "come alive" until they hit a certain sweet spot, which may be a little more loud than my ears should be listening to. Hello there, My old headphones (Gamecom Plantronics 367) just broke after about a year of usage and they vere amazing considering the price (25£ with postage), but now I need some new ones. I am new in STAX but already fall in love with it after a few audition. Now I like to spend about US$ 500 - 600, yeah it is not enough to get the best Stax, but maybe you guys here can help me to decide what to chose with that amount that your experience has the best in sound quality. My interest is a light jazz and some classic music and maybe some pop music too. I do own a Qinpu A-6000 Hybrid amplifier, that might enough to drive an energizer. I had no idea I was a headphone snob but now I know it's official. While listening to my new MS2i heaphones the most elitist and snobby thoughts about my HD650's kept going though my head. My headphone upgrading path started with a pair of Grado SR80's > Sr325's > HD650's shortly followed by a zu mobius cable now 3 years after my HD650's a wild hair caused my to buy a pair of MS2i's. Hey, I've recently stumbled upon someone selling Beats By Dre Pro for about 200 bucks. Seems like a bargain doesn't it? I know Beats aren't the best headphones, but I'd be happy to buy them for 200 bucks. He claims they are original and still in good condition. Says he has a receipt too. But you just can't be sure enough with all these fakes nowadays. In my opinion they seem pretty legit, but I'm just a newb. Anyone heard of these? I was in one of the music stores here and they had a few Westones as well as this model. Never even heard of them.

I have been having pain in my left ear, I went to the Dr. and he said my ear was inflammed and gave me antibiotics. I stopped wearing headphones for a few weeks and my ear felt better. Yesterday I put my favorite headphones on (HD 600) and my ear began to hurt again. The pain is located around the tragus (towards nose not canal) it started with sensitivity to volume and higher pitches now it is just a pain relating to pressure from the headphones. The pain eventually goes away my concern is for the long term and am wondering the best way to proceed is (no more hd 600's oddly enough have read of 3 accounts incredibly similar to mine, moving towards speakers anyway . A good balance between details and sweetness. With other words, I like the sound of an Audiolab 8000A, but can not listen to it for more than like 30 minutes. After going throw allot of the headphones I decided to sell all my expensive gear and just settle for the hp2 with some cheap matching dac and amp. I was looking at the asgard 2 and ckIII to match maybe with the loki dac but have no idea on what amp should sound good with the hp2. Looking for suggestions.

hiya fellas. ive had my 595s for a while now and they've had some issues. at one point i lost nearly all sound from them, discovered my ground was disconnected and was able to fix that. the only lingering problem is a rattle coming from within the right driver. ive taken the right cup apart and found no hair in the driver, tried blowing gently on it to try and pop out a potential crease in the diaphram, and no luck. really a bummer at this point, anyone got an idea? edit: it should be noted that the rattle is only present during really low bass notes, and this is all the more reason id like them fixed.. i listen to a lot of Dubstep.

After nearly a year with the W5000, it was time for some new woodie love! I wasn't sure if I would like them soundwise, based on the many various comments, but I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. What a great midrange!

do you think they deserve all the praise they get, or is there anything else you prefer for the price?

So I am in the market for some closed headphones. I have heard grado's and like them, have heard AKG'S and like them. Read a few forum posts on HF and ran across the AKG 270P's. Since I have a pair of Sextett's and I like them, I thought maybe the 270P's might be a good fit. However, I trust the opinions on this forum a lot more than the stuff I read over at that "other" forum. So has anyone heard the AKG K270 Playback's? Anyone own a pair? I listen to a lot of different types of music, but I would use my closed cans for rock, hip-hop, and the occasional jazz session. Any opinions and recommendations are greatly appreciated.
