What do you guys think of this New Yorker/Schaap-Brody-Remnick list?

I'm a huge fan. Own every one old and new, vinyl and CD. But the more I listen to "Back on Top" can't stop thinking to me its the the best record hes made. That's among 5-6 killers. If your out and about and see the CD used, grab it! The slow ballads are freaking killer. Listening now, track 5, when the leaves come falling down. GREAT MUSIC!!

I appear on this! This is unmastered -- it's halfway funded right now, it'll get mastered when it reaches funding. But even if it doesn't get funded, you still get all the unmastered tracks and IMHO, not all the tracks need mastering. (Mine just needs the first couple seconds of silence clipped off.) It's mostly ambient and atmospheric electro, and profits go to Namlook's family.

Hooleee shit, best hip hop album of the year so far for me Definitely less eclectic than Phrenology which makes it a bit less interesting in parts, but still a very solid album. Maybe it's just because I'm really into it right now, but it's almost Things Fall Apart quality

Hey there any Mule fans, I picked up a copy of Deepest End this weekend (2 disc live + Dvd) - wow. For some reason I have never really given them a good listen and now am kicking myself for skipping them when they were in town last go round. Anyway, I am going to pick up more. Any recommendations as to what my next purchase should be? Thanks!

I think anyone that likes kraut rock should give this a listen. Like Amon Duul or Can on steroids (or more drugs). I've been trying to find a way to list my iTunes library. For my reference out in the world, and for sharing w/ folks. Dusty tunes didnt work; nor did several other export options. I had previously been using Tree Copy on the PC, but its kind of annoying since you cant really scroll w/out navigating into each directory. Turns out you can do it straight in iTunes, and you can also even grab the album art. This is a godsend. I've read that teaching is very important to her and that she didn't want to tour to finish school, but this is crazy coming weeks after the release of Illumination. The album has the band poised for some success considering it's their most accessible album IMO. I'll be curious to see what becomes of the band without her and Morten, and if she'll go on to do something on her own or with others. So a friend of mine has been bugging me to transfer some cassette tapes. I am always willing to help out but the problem holding me back was that I didn't have a cassette tape player. Now, as far back as I can remember (1985), my father hated cassette tapes. Almost everyone I knew growing up didn't like them because 1) they jammed, 2) they didn't sound as good as the LP and 3) the art was crap. I guess I grew up with this bias (PUN!). Paul Motian passed away a week ago and Fresh Air had a nice tribute/older interview that hit upon Bill Evans, Monk, and Keith Jarrett. Worth a listen. "I'm not a showpiece drummer. ... I feel like I'm an accompanist. It's my sort of thing to make the other people sound good, as good as they can be. I feel like I should accompany them, and I should accompany the sound that I am hearing and make it the best that I can — that I can do."

Wolfgang Voigt- Gas Some of you might be familiar with the electronic work by Gas. This is the same thing, except just some unreleased material not found on their other CDs. I have not heard his other releases under his own name, only the stuff released under Gas. It's hard to review this album, but to sum it up it's just an excellent dark ambient album that really draws you into the music. The downside is it isn't very long, under an hour and every time it comes to a close I'm wanting to hear more.
