Bands I Useta Like Some really funny stuff in there. Make sure you read Smashing Pumpkins and Stabbing Westward in order. I also particularly liked the Phish one and laughed my ass off at the Stone Temple Pilots one. In fact, I'm getting the giggles right now.

Interesting news on several levels. Here's a link to the story. I really like Gavin's drumming, and it would be really interesting to hear him with King Crimson, but I really hope he doesn't leave Porcupine Tree permanently!

Does anyone have the 70-75 Genesis vinyl box set? I have the cd/DVD box and never really liked the sound. Has anyone heard the vinyl editions and are they more representative of the originals?

So those who have it - how do you like it? It's on my list of musics to get at some point, but those damn XRCDs are pricey.

German Oak - German Oak Amazing, phantasmal krautrock. An improptu recording in an abandoned war bunker. A bit sloppy, but grow some nuts and put up with it. If you like Can, Faust, International Harvester, Popol Vuh and all those greats, most definitely check it out. Makes you feel as if you're on the brink of death; life-affirming. moderator edit: I fixed the link for the album art, and the download should work now

Each CD comes in a mini-LP sleeve, and the CDs themselves are recreated to look like little vinyls. I have no familiarity with Gould's work, but I have a hard time passing up a deal like this. Any thoughts?

Just a heads up for anyone who may not have realized the day was here... Goldfrapp - [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Seventh-Tree-Special-Goldfrapp/dp/B0011FXLCC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1204040010&sr=8-1]Seventh Tree[/ame] came out today. I've been lucky enough to have been listening to this for a few months now and all I can say is... While it's unmistakabley Goldfrapp, it's unlike anything they've done before. Alison's voice is a great as ever, and if anything, Will's stripped down soundscapes that are probably closest to folk provide an even better stage to showcase that voice. It's far closer to Felt Mountain than Black Cherry or Supern…

Hey guys I set my turntable up with a new cartridge tonight, dialed in all the settings, connected my phono stage and verified that everything works. However all I have to test it is a slightly warped and slightly dirty 45 rpm from 1972. Where are some good online sources for vinyl? I need at least a few reference albums to get rolling.

So I've been running on the treadmill lately, and I am curious as to what other people listen to when they want to go for that extra mile. I tend to listen to the following: 1) LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver 2) Girl Talk - Feed the Animal 3) Rage Against the Machine - self titled 4) Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation 5) Metallica - Kill 'Em All 6) Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury 7) Weezer - Blue Album

  17. I recently picked up couple albums from Johnny Cash's American Recording series (specifically, III and IV). I was excited about it as I've been meaning to get them for a while. To my dissapointment, both albums sounded terrible, sounding really "hot" at many places with distortions. My questions is, are there good versions of the American Recording series? I really want to listen to them, but I just can't get over the distortions.

Plays the Music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn Stereophile went gaga over this album. They gave it 4 1/2 stars for performance and five for sound. I checked it out on Lala and it does sound worth a serious listen. Can't speak to the five stars for sound part, since I only listened to a stream on my laptop speakers. Lala has this embed code feature with which I can allegedly post a player. (crossing fingers) [snip] Naw. Guess that doesn't work in forum posts. Here's a permalink. Maybe that will work better. I was watching a TV show in a scene a guy was giving a rare, collectible vinyl album to another. The album cover was brown or very dark orange with regularly distributed, about 5x5 or 6x6, white circles. In four of the circles, in the same line, starting next to the left rim, the word JAZZ spelled one single letter into one single circle. That's all, no names, no label, no artist mentioned or music sounding. I've tried looking for that cover on Discogs, Google, etc, but nothing came out. Any cues?
