Well, I will probably be the loner here, but I think I will be ordering the 12". Do I need it? No. But this is HC after all. And for my use, I'll probably only need the single USB dongle as the only things I really connect to are my Schiit DAC and an external Blu Ray burner, not at the same time. So sometime soon it's very possible a 13" mid-2011 MacBook Air will be for sale.
  2. Joe Jackson -- albums Look Sharp! through Laughter and Lust skipping Will Power because I'm more interested in his song-oriented stuff right now. Not sure about the soundtracks, will see when I get to them. On Tidal.

  7. Yes, Lamy ink is perfectly fine ink. As a general rule, expect any ink made by a pen manufacturer to be really easy on a pen. Besides Sheaffer Skrip Blue I also have a bottle of Aurora Blue I keep at the office and have had no issues with it. Please note that I'm not knocking inks made my non-pen manufacturers, just in my personal experience I'm willing to trade vibrancy of color on the page for ease in pen cleaning. Purely my preference, I don't believe that inks made by Noodlers or Private Reserve will actually damage pens. Its worth a shot, but poor ink flow could be because of all sorts of issues. Misaligned tines etc. If the pen is worth it there are a number of nibmeisters you could pay to fix your pen for you. Writing with a pen tuned by a nibmeister, like John Mottishaw at nibs.com or the now retired Richard Binder, is a fantastic experience. I love Montblancs. The tri-tone nibs on the 149 are visually the most stunning nibs made, IMO. If you really want to go down the Japanese pen rabbit hole start looking into Nakaya pens.
  8. I'll just add that the 13" rMBP has exceeded my expectations so far.
  9. No build issues I can see. Stax have learned their lessons on the older 007's. To quote an email I got this morning: 'nuff said.
  10. Good stuff. The banjo player, Noam, is the son of my wife's former colleague at Cook County Hospital Ambulatory Care. He's a nice, though slightly neurotic and obsessive Jewish guy who used to drive his son across town to the Chicago Old Town School of Folk Music for banjo lessons. He would also drive him all over the state while his son won all kinds of banjo playing contests and awards. Some say he's the best banjo player in the world.

  12. VPI's picture has given me closet envy.
  13. Chris, I have a large collection of Noodlers, ST DuPont, J Herbin, Swisher and Visconti ink I do not use if you want to try out some others. With all the new FP people here I should throw up my collection for sale. That is if I can find them.

^^^ Sitting in front of an open window myself. It is MORE than just a breath of fresh air for sure.....!
  15. During the weekend I did a complete re-build of my beloved Lambda's. Heavily inspired by 4070 I decided to do a closed housing. The coloration from the housing was a bit hard to avoid so the combination is actually the best combo that even out the coloration. Also the pads had been rebuilt, and certainly removes any etch. The result is outstanding, no one can tell the difference between Rick Astley's "Never gonna give up on you" and Ludvig van's Ninth's ... Let's call 'em 007mkIII, as they are everything the 007 will never become ;o) The sound is "sick as a brick" ;o) (http://inhabitat.com/lego-headphones-bring-new-life-to-old-toys/lego1/?extend=1)
