The hypocrisy in the Catholic Church is on an immeasurable scale. While some people think of child molesters who pray on boys somehow related to gay men and homosexuality in general, there is absolutely no relation whatsoever. Child molestation is rape, and rape is not about sex, but about power. I've mentioned before how pissed off I get about that comparison to homosexuality. While I'm not surprised at how Catholic people have little understanding of gay people, I cannot for the life of me wrap my brain around the idea that having consensual sex with a member of your own gender can somehow be seen as similar or worse than the rape of a child. While the Catholic Church would quietly shuffle off a molesting priest to another diocese, they would publicly condemn gay men and women for basically acts of love. So "Intrinsically disordered" is in one way a giant step forward. Also, as the general population becomes more understanding and comfortable with homosexuality, the Catholic Church has absolutely no choice but to soften the rhetoric. As for me, what has me most excited these days, is that equal rights has to be just around the corner. I can still be fired in Texas for being gay. No recourse at all! But that first domino has fallen, and surely the momentum is irreversible now. I love you gays and gals dearly!3 points

No, no. I didn't get that from you at all. I simply wanted to bring to light how ridiculous the Catholic rating system of "sins" is to my view. And Ric makes a good point...I don't mean to lump Catholics and Christians together. I don't even lump Catholics and the Catholic hierarchy together. I have met some really great Christians and Catholics. And many of both religious backgrounds have been very supportive to our cause. My disdain is almost solely with those in "the business" of religion.2 points

So I had to come back to Atlanta to do my transfer to a different store up in VA. Just my laptop and a pr. of senn hd201s. Then here comes the king of all friends...(that would be Purk) Brings me a pair of HD800 and HD650's. Sets up new software on my laptop, brings all cables and a nuforce converter, along with headroom desktop headphone amp/dac and desktop power supply. After 7 months of health issues and not being able to work, getting back in the groove was not easy. Having these tunes to come home to has made so much difference! Thanks just doesn't cover this much trouble and time he's put into this hook up. He's the best1 point

Don't you dare edit a post to be less harsh... That's not the way we do things People are going to have their views on who is "Sherlock" or who is "The Doctor" (David Tennant, of course,) but like I believe Nate said, you don't have to tear down another one for your guy to matter. I do, however, wish they would have had Hugh Laurie as House but with a British accent playing Sherlock. I'm sure his violin playing would have been better. **BRENT** Edit: Antonio, do you just not like Cumberbatch from Sherlock, or is there something else you don't like him from? The Imitation Game? I'm curious as to whether or not you are basing your decision off his portrayal of the character or a previous body of work. If it's based on something else, please let me know. I want to check it out.1 point

Brett was the quintessential Holmes, I grew up watching that series and have fond memories. But I also enjoy the heck out of Cumberbatch's Holmes and don't think that there's a need to disparage one in support of the other.1 point

My vice-parents gave me a gold, automatic, center seconds and date Maurice Lacroix in 1990, for finishing school and passing the public examinations to become a specialist. I've used it a lot, on a daily basis for five years when I received it, then from time to time. Wife used it for a whole year like two years ago, it's a small watch like 32mm or so, specially for modern standards. I've replaced its lizard strap like three times, so you get the idea of the use it's received. Last week has been the first time I took it for servicing in more than twenty years, because the watch run, but behind for about a minute/day which is far from normal. They say it's mostly OK but that one of the gears is worn out and needs replacement, also the bearing--of the flywheel I guess--. Not bad at all for a "second or third tier" mechanical watch. I agree with Jacob, Maurice Lacroix received a bad consideration for making affordable quartz watches, but their mechanical ones and their design are pretty good. Still some snobs will look at it over the shoulder with disdain.1 point

You seem to make the mistake of thinking that I care about other people's frame of reference. There are plenty of people here that I get along with just fine. The people I wronged in the past, I apologized to. Some accepted the apology or just simply moved on while others didn't but that is where my responsibility ended. If I wanted to grovel and ask for forgiveness repeatedly, I'd take up religion. As to whether my local maxima is the universal maxima or not doesn't really matter. In the grand scheme of things, my life will go on with or without your largesse. I have made no effort to hide my feelings regarding the people I don't get along with. They seem to do the same so I consider that an even playing field. I haven't had an issue with you nor have one now but you seemed intent on going off the deep end for an opinion I offered all because you woke up on the wrong side of your bed (I hope that that is the case as at least it offers an excuse for your uncalled for outburst). You say that the mistake to think your mind was the universal maxima was a mistake that you made many years ago. I submit that you haven't stopped making it if you think that being an admin on an internet forum requires people to be nice to you when you aren't nice to them. Your god complex has only been embedded deeper. If sharing contradictory thoughts on here is a ban worthy offense, go for it. Watch me care. But I must warn you, you might be waiting for a very long time before I start to. As for bright boys having value...I've already proved that to people that matter in my life.1 point

I'd like to point out that Marc was one of the first people on this forum that I came out to. It was face to face, and Marc's support and understanding played a large role in me feeling good about coming out to the forum. Marc is a religious person, and has always made me feel completely comfortable, not only around himself, but around his two young children as well. I respect his religious beliefs, and consider him a great friend.1 point

So good on you, Steve. Don't let them drag you to their level. I read an article on the slight "softening" of the anti-gay-marriage stance by the pope, and it had this quote "Intrinsically disordered" Okaaaayyyyy. Wonder what all the priests who molested young boys have to say about that...and what god would say about them as they pray....and were hidden and protected by the church itself. Hypocritical fucktards is pretty spot on Carl!1 point

Walked into a homophobic discussion with gay slurs, and idiotic statements about how the new gay marriage ruling is a slap in the face to Christians and their beliefs. It got very, very quiet when I walked into the room. But for the first time I can remember, I remained calm. I stated my case without malice and without raising my voice. I have no idea if I changed anyone's mind in any way, but I don't really care. I was so happy with myself for not flying off the handle. I have to attribute recent events and my experiences at this years Gay Pride Parade in San Francisco, for my new found patience. I now think of all my great friends who wouldn't want me any other way than what I am, and I gather much strength from that. NFLO!1 point

Congrats! I bought that watch but on a Ti bracelet a couple of years ago and really like it, but mine is all satin finish without the polished bezel. It only gained 48 seconds last year. I'd usually wear it golfing as it disappears on the wrist and seems to take the shocks well. Then my son wanted one too and he got your exact model with the leather strap, but they threw in a navy blue canvas Citizen signed strap with it. He's left it on the navy canvas strap since day one, and gave me the leather strap that he doesn't like.1 point
