  1. What a great weekend! Friday night, I got to see heather Nova for the first time, have loved her music since ~'93 or '94. Missed a bunch of opportunites to see her due to other commitments. The one time I WAS able to see her the outdoor show got cancelled for storm forecasts.....and the weather was pretty damn nice! So Friday night, she does this intimate small show with her brother, who is a singer channeling Reggae through Folk music, named Mishka. A wonderful performance, got to speak with Heather & Mishka a bit after the show. They did some great music, including the last song in their encore being a version of Bowie's Starman. Then Saturday night, another small show with Mary Fahl, ex of October Project and possessing one of the most incredible and unique voices I've ever heard. Until I saw her last October, it had been ~22 years since I had last seen her (with October Project, in '94). Mary's husband Richard was there, he travels with her a lot and is one of the most interesting and warmest people I've ever met. Before the show started, he came by after recognizing me and we also had a nice chat. Mary was joined this time by a Cellist, which I thought was perfect accompaniment to her soulful voice. And while I couldn't take photo's or video during the show, Mary loves to meet and greet afterwards - and I got a warm greeting Two of my favorites artists in one weekend.....!

  4. Took almost two hours and an orbital buffer to remove cone residue from the rocker panels (or at least the visible parts) but my car is looking pretty good and not battle worn. Of course I'll probably fuck it up in 2 weeks at the next round but at least the baseline will be better. Washed the other cars too. Love the relatively cheap Meguiar's stuff gives such a nice shine for basically no work and their scratch stuff is great.

  6. Waiting for Magnetic Fields. Claire picked this show somewhat randomly and it turns out it is the second 25 songs for each year of the lead singer's life (1990 to 2015). Should be fun.

  13. I added some parts to mouser project you still need to pick resistors, terminal blocks, transistor mounting hardware and maybe change the big caps Mouser has some new 600v ones for the prereg side they are higher voltage than necessary for 400v supply's also you can look over the KGSSHV BOM for ideas as many parts are similar http://tee8tee4388.blogspot.com/2013/07/kgsshv-amplifier.html

  15. Jacob, after I was ripped off -twice by the same lady- I had to look at a photo line up. I was clueless. Cops took it in stride. We are at a trash can painting event at the port with a friend and her daughters. Ran into several old friends. Either this is a smaller town than it seems or we know five million people. There. PIc inserted. It turns out "we" (Bonnie) won the first place prize for drum-painted-by(nominal)-adult. I love the smell of syrup in the morning...

  16. Getting a particular T2 stable can be a bit of a game. The problem arises from the fact that the feedback trace is quite long, physically. It was less long in the original Stax T2 because it was more compact (and as a result ran incendiary hot). Anyhow, the feedback trace has to get all the way from the output tube's anodes/plates all the way back to the input tube's cathodes. Mine used to hoot too - you need to adjust the 15pF value in small increments both upwards and downwards, and possibly add one or both 2.2pF caps, and again be prepared to tweak the value. While looking for oscillation and its frequency. Once it is stable, do a frequency response sweep and look for a response peak - if you find one continue adjusting those caps until it is critically damped. It is interesting to note that 15pF and 100k gives a dominant pole at ~100kHz whereas the oscillation is at 685kHz, which implies that there is a secondary feedback loop, possibly inductively coupling into the feedback trace. I have a vague recollection that I cut a trace and re-routed in some way, or changed the position of the upper feedback resistor, but I'd have to tear my T2 apart to find out what I did.

  21. Great advice Al, I'm actually leaning in this direction. Total Wine has every one of these, even the RB21($280). I'm thinking GS, YS, and RB15. That puts me right about what I'd pay for the RB21 and he'll be able to spread it around as he chooses. I appreciate all the help guys.

  22. Gary, if your buddy likes Jameson them it would be cool to get him a really pricey single bottle like the great suggestion from Bryan, or else a few bottles of Irish ranging from $50 to $100 a bottle so he could try more of them. Redbreast 12 at $50 Redbreast 12 cask strength at $70 Green Spot at $70 Yellow Spot at $100 There's lots of other options but maybe that is a start. Mike Baker can certainly point you to the right shop...

  23. I typed out a rant about how this league is pretty boring right now. But whatever. I'll just accept that Golden State vs. Cleveland was inevitable and that Lebron is indeed the king.
