suggest you build the kgsshv-carbon first. do it as 2 chassis leave extra room in the power supply for a filament transformer and extra pins in the connector then you can build the GG as a second amplifier and use the existing power supply then even later you can upgrade the GG to DHT tubes simple

Watched a shitty band Collective Soul and about to watch what I seem to recall is a shittier band Shinedown. Couldn't last to a second screaming song after their opening number "Gibberish, Grunt and Scream". I thought it was also odd that the band asked everyone to meet the person next to them and shake their hand like some kind of church shit. Is Shinedown a cult band? I love mine. Don't know about the earlier pre-production models but the one I have exhibits only a slight "closed chamber" soundstage, what I mean by that is that you will immediately notice you're listening to a closed headphone if you came from living with a great open one like I did, or you compare side by side. It is, imho, not distracting once you get used to it. That is a huge praise for a closed can, as I've never heard one I even really liked before. But just like Tyll put it, with the foam inserts these are darn well balanced with controlled bass and no immediate annoyances anywhere even as you go up in the treble. Just a very nice, "right" sounding headphone that also happens to be really solid and lighweight. It doesn't resolve quite like my STAX but because it isolates well, it brings out details in low-level ambient noise that would easily be obscured with the STAX. It's nice to sit on the balcony in the summer and get some sweet tunes. Not that we get much of summer in Sweden...

You are wellcome Yes, I use an Arduino. A friend had an idea and he designed the software and all adaptation work. Arduino is controlling soft-start, times, temperatures ... on my Carbon, Arduino controls the input selector too. If I have a problem with temps for example, Arduino cuts HV trafo current.

Actually, that's just a Cockroft-Walton generator/voltage multiplier. Same principle as the voltage multiplier in the Stax bias supplies, except MUCH higher voltages, e.g. 1-3 megavolts out, albeit with a fair amount of ripple. Walton and Cockroft used it to accelerate charged nuclei to bombard atoms and transmute them into heavier elements, for which they won a Nobel Prize in physics. Currently, used to give charged particles a starting kick before they enter the circlotron.

You call that a circlotron? HA! THIS is a circlotron: The Fermilab in Batavia, IL. 2 miles in circumference. Too big for my house. The CERN Large Hadron collider, see above, is more recent, and even bigger - 27 km circumference.

Well, as you eluded to, I've really enjoyed the V20 (and V10 for that matter). I've found the V20 to be the first phone that typically survives a full day for me without charging, and doesn't have any lag/freeze issues. I think the DAC quality is quite good, better than the AK240, and almost but not quite to the level of the AK320/380. The amp isn't quite as good, and partially that's due to their low/high impedance software auto-switching (i.e. have to hack to enable full amp performance with sub 50ohm headphones). I don't mind using the bult-in amp, unhacked, with my JH Laylas, but if I'm going to listen for an extended period of time, like on a plane, I will hook up a Pico Slim. I've been primarily using Hiby Music, as I prefer the interface to that of Neutron. I couldn't say that there is any noticeable sound quality difference. Especially with this phone going for as little as $300 lately, I'd say it's a great deal. It's without question the best smartphone I have owned, and the audio quality is quite good for being the device that's always on hand. I could go on about the cameras as well, also the best experience I've had with a smartphone, and being able to develop RAW files on the fly has gotten me shots I never would have though possible on a phone.

Anyone who's a fan of the Ænima album really should get to one of the shows this tour. Third Eye live was mind-boggling good. Maynard stepped up and they played The Pot as well, which is a rarity in recent years. Waited a long time to see them, absolutely worth it.
