...in other news I have the SR-009S sitting on my head. This is one of the very first sets shipped out and I only plugged them in just over an hour ago so first impressions only. It's funny to see what is essentially SR-007's parts on them and they do look very nice. Those stators always should have been gold plated as it looks so much better. In terms of sound my reaction is more mixed. Now the good...that horrible forward balance on the old 009's is gone. The treble is extended but well controlled, more like a refined version of the L700's without their slight bright nature. This is a massive change to the better. Now for the less great part...the bass suckout which is present in a part of the spectrum. When I got them I just plugged them into my office system (regular Carbon fed by a Denafrips Ares) and put the player on random. Don Henley - The boys of summer came on (fitting given the lack of a summer here) and the track just sounded thin and distant. I also tried one popular Icelandic song which starts with all the focus on the snare drum (Das Capital - Blindsker in case it is online) and it just sounds weird. They should sound powerful and heavy but on the 009S it is weak and distant sounding. I need to do some digging as to what is causing this but two things spring to mind, a port hidden in there or those awful earpads. The 009 earpads are a terrible design so that will probably be my first stop. I will need to do a bunch more listening but I'm a bit disappointed now...6 points

Tudors are good watches for the price, but in person you can see and feel where the savings were had in comparison to Rolex.1 point

Unlike every other swatch brand, glassutte does everything themselves. No off the shelf or modified eta movements, not that there is anything wrong with eta movements they were tanks and measure very well. I'm not paying 10k for a watch with one though.1 point

Here is another option but it is a bit off the reservation Glasshutte Original Pano Reserve. Options include white dial and they do a strap in addition to the bracelet. Oh and the rolex explorer, similar look to the oyster perpetual but with some arabic numerals.1 point

Stretch is right on, of course. A new Speedmaster (get the one with the hesalite crystal) is also never a bad decision. They are 42mm, but wear like a 40 (they really do). Given that you like Seamasters, though, this seems like a no-brainer. Having said all of that, the Black Bay 58 is likely what I would get. It's a good size (a great size, really, and 12mm, which makes it versatile in an age where most Tudors are chunky), and I think it's just beautiful. The movement is excellent, as is the case finishing (Tudor cases are simpler than Rolex cases, but of a similar quality, which is to say about as good as it gets). I would buy it on the bracelet, but I would get the fabric strap with it (Tudor fabric straps are as good as Omega fabric straps). In my own watch world, which was newly added to in a less thoughtful way, I'm actually really liking the Oris. it's simple, in a highly mid-century modern way (the design really reminds me of something JLC would make), the dial is beautiful when the sun catches it, and at 11mm with well sloped lugs, it slips under a dress cuff with absolutely no problem. The stock strap is too long (not something I ever thought I'd say!), but it's not too too long, and it seems to be lined with some sort of synthetic suede, so hopefully I won't get a rash and need to get a custom strap made. The overall quality is quite good. It's an SW200-1 Sellita, which isn't an amazing movement, but it has been keeping wonderful time, just like the ETA 2824 it's based on can. The funny 11 indexes between 10-12 isn't noticeable, except when you do, and it's kinda fun.1 point

Kickstarter has made some moves to try and curb this as they demand functioning prototypes but it is in no way a sure thing. Indigogo is just the home of scammers with too many to list.1 point

Spent a nice afternoon at my dad and stepmom's, good food & good people. Got a rare pic of me with my two brothers and sister (officially adopted step-sister, but...sister). I'm the one with the least hair. Oh, and the big smiles were not due to being together, but because of FLUFFY, which Alexa found for us (EDIT: I JUST found out, the backing band for Gloria was Psychotic Pineapple!)1 point

I only like watches because I can't stand wearing rings or any other jewerly, it is just uncomfortable to me. I like the style of an elegant watch, but the truth is that a cheap watch will pretty much tell time as well as a good one, and the Rolex, which is the most expensive one I own, actually tells the worst time, and will stop running if it sits more than two days. I regret buying it, and would rather have something really exotic. My other kinetic watches all work much better. Watches are a matter of taste, but none to date have added any inches to my dick.1 point
