  1. We hiked 11+ miles, which was further than I had anticipated. We reached a bluff overlooking the ocean at the half way point, and Claire spotted a whale. We watched it breaching, spouting and tail slapping for a few minutes until it disappeared from our view. It started raining a little -- the first rain I've experienced in California since May -- although it was not predicted until late tonight. I was wearing a flannel shirt and Claire had on a light puffy coat. In other words we were not prepared for rain in any way. It continued and intensified for the entire trip back. We arrived back at the hotel soaked to the skin from head to toe. The first half was excellent. The second half wasn't.
  2. Keen observation, my friend.
  3. Thanks again, guys. Life is good. Birthdays are a great reminder of the alternative, and I'm always thankful to have another one and a chance for more.
  4. I'm sure a rebuild would be enough, Nate. That said, new bikes are great! Get well soon, Ken! Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  5. Claire looks happier than you...
  6. Ouch, Ken, sounds painful. Had a couple near crashes this morning but nothing serious thankfully.
  7. May your birthday bring you great memories frolicking with your elves.
  8. Working with my quality control...
  9. Post away, Knucks, life's slightly less of a bitch when you can share the suffering with others.
  10. I’m sorry, but - I will not compare my, in kitchen made, amplifier with the famous DIY T2. One way to compare… well, build one – it’s fun. Schematic above.
  11. We'll have a prototype of the new GS-X mini at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest next month!
  12. People connected to me on FB and Instagram may have gotten the memo that we're fostering a litter of four puppies for the next ten days or so. It's exhausting but rewarding, and probably something the kids will remember for awhile. Eleanor wants to adopt one of course.
  13. I know. Just using it as a way to announce my disdain for the NRA as an organization.
  14. Sound like you need a new fork and shock, preferable mounted on a new frame. Me, I had a 3mph over the bars fall last Wednesday. Landed hard, but fortunately nothing broken. However, my right shoulder is so sore and painful to use that I'll be off my bike for a week or two minimum.
  15. I think the MTB may be shagged. Checked the air in the front fork the other night, was down 35psi. No wonder it felt sloppy. Aired it back up but it was already feeling soft on the ride this morning. Pretty sure the back suspension is getting there too, which isn't surprising after hauling my fat ass around for the last 6+ seasons of not so gentle riding. Still, it was a great morning for a romp through the woods.
  16. My house was built in 1967. It has an artesian (not to be confused with artisanal) well. The pump motor is 51 years old. Yesterday it kicked the bucket. I've been without running water for over a day now. The well guy is/was due here at 9AM. He ain't here yet. I'm underslept and overcaffeinated and living in the 19th century. Also, I'm lucky this happened NOW and not in 3-4 months when the ground is frozen. #IOnlyPostHereToComplain
