  2. Update to add that I love this thing. The BluOS upgrades that are regularly pushed out keep it up to date. I just added HD to my Amazon Music service and now I get lossless and Hi-Rez streaming on it too. Sounds flat out amazing. Edit: I configured it to Bi-amp the satellites. Awesome.

  3. thanks for this link, Rob. i noticed that inverted method produces a smaller volume and a more concentrated pour so i tried bypassing this morning with a few different volumes and that worked quite well. balances out the pour.

  4. I've had the Aero for a couple of weeks. I enjoy it for a relatively quick cup but pour over (Kalita 185) just tastes better to me. I found some tasty methods recently from this (recipes at the bottom) Linkey

  5. Interesting and good to hear. I have used Aero before in the past - for @work sipping. I never found it to be the best option for me. but maybe I should try again sometime - I got pretty good with our fresh roast in the french... you must have special aero 'skills'... enjoy

  6. Quincy Jones - Live in Ludwigshafen 1961 "His Orchestra" were this bunch: Benny Bailey: trumpet; Freddie Hubbard: trumpet; Paul Cohen: trumpet; Curtis Fuller: trombone; Melba Liston: trombone; Ake Persson: trombone; David Baker: trombone; Julius Watkins: French horn; Phil Woods: alto saxophone; Joe Lopes: alto saxophone; Eric Dixon: tenor saxophone, flute; Budd Johnson: tenor saxophone; Sahib Shahib: baritone saxophone, flute; Patti Bown: piano; Les Spann: guitar, flute; Buddy Catlett: bass; Carlos "Patato" Valdes: conga drums; Stu Martin: drums; It's a bittersweet experience listening to such good performers at their prime trying to succeed when their craft was losing the popularity contest. Such is life, who would have told Quincy in those days that he would hit it producing Thriller about twenty years later. He went next to bankruptcy because of that european tour in the early 60s.

  7. The trouble is with the non-standard pin out of JJ beam power “pentode” tubes (6CA7 and KT77) as seen in the DIY T2 circuit . In the DIY T2 (as well as the original T2), G3 (pin1) on the PCB are connected to the plate (B+). Using the big bottle JJ 6CA7 with its G3 brought out to pin 1, effectively makes the beam forming plates the anode. They were not designed to take the full plate load current. On all other Kevin Gilmore amps (except the all tube Grounded Grid amps which no one has built) connect G3 to the cathode (G1) on the PCBs. Using true pentode EL34/6CA7 or G3 internally cathode connected beam power tetrodes work fine here. Using JJ 6CA7s or JJ KT77s are the problem. In the DIY T2, true pentode= OK, JJ Beam power = problem, all other Beam power = OK. It’s easy to visually verify if pin 1 on the JJs is internally connected or not. Justin has his own customer histories that makes him advise not to use KT77s in his amps. So don’t do it there!

  8. Terrible match IMHO. Also the Ether Voce pads. The best pads I came across for the 007 were the 009 pads. Actually they proved to be the best for all my headphones. I love those pads - especially after I removed the white reinforcing layer from the internal foam. Same mod works great for the 007 pads as well. Best generally usable ear pads in the industry IMHO (not counting special ones like Focal or Sony or Phenomenon). I have dozens of obsolete pads from other makers that I collected over time, but the 007 and 009 pads stand out. So if anything, I'd move *for* them, not away from them :).

  9. Old Musicians Never Die. They Just Become Holograms. “But here’s the headline,” Shapiro went on. “Look at who’s gone, just in the last couple of years: Bowie, Prince, Petty. Now look who’s still going but who’s not going to be here in 10 years, probably, at least not touring: the Stones, the Who, the Eagles, Aerosmith, Billy Joel, Elton John, McCartney, Springsteen. That is the base not just of classic rock but of the live-music touring business. Yes, there’s Taylor Swift, there’s Ariana Grande. But the base is these guys.” https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/07/magazine/hologram-musicians.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share

  10. So here I was modding a SRM-006tS to a CCS and noticed this: That is the R+ output and notice the 3 lines coming off it, one going to the feedback, one going to the output resistor and one... going to the other side of the output resistor... One has to wonder just how many of these they have shipped like this? In other news, it was fun converting an original T1 and and this one at the same time. 30 years apart and almost exactly the same...
