  1. Headed up to Maine today, it's a Partridge-Family-like sunshiney day! We were getting ready for lunch when we heard the good news on Biden. The celebratory lunch was with a nice view of the water and bridge to Kennebunkport, then on the way to our condo we encountered the obvious. No wonder we see a fair bit of Trump signs....

  6. Seriously, it was so nice here yesterday that I rode my bike to work. I think the last time I did that in November it was 19F when I left the house. Yesterday it was 52F and was still in the 60s when I got home (after dark). It was funny to ride by the various small bodies of water near my house and feel how cold the thermal influence of that mass made the surrounding air. It was like riding through pockets of the refrigerated isle at the grocery store.

  8. The thing I have learned working with a lasers is you need to treat it like a weapon: is it loaded/plugged in, is it safed/armed, is it pointed at the thing I am going to shoot and not at the things I do not want to shoot, am I wearing the safety gear, is everyone else safe or with gear on, do I know what I am doing? Only then, do you press the button. Shitty day out here, trying to motivate myself to head out to the garage and put my words into actions.

  10. Agreed, coming from a lot of work-related laser work, there's a personal arm/de-arm sequence and there will be an enclosure before anyone else is even in the garage with me. I trust myself, but no one else. Also need an enclosure for fumes anyways.

  15. Some jazz recorded the year that I was born, but released this year, right today: Available for download, CD ordering or free listening at Storyville Records in Bandcamp I've just learned that Dexter Gordon can sing rather acceptably.

  16. I leave Tuesday morning to go see my partner. A 7.5 hour car trip. I always give the "good watches" to my mother, to keep, if I'm going to be gone for a while, but it caught me that my travel roll was sort of interesting, in a buckle/clasp branding perspective.

  19. But I talked to Dan, and he said... This one time, at band camp, Dan said... etc. etc. It's impossible to critique Mr Speakers headphones online without people gushing about "Dan" as though he's a close personal friend and occasional sexual partner. It's all a bit odd.
