  2. Cut to length and straight lined to parallel 200bf of walnut. I think I need to find a better supplier and get FAS select. Less work for me and I’ll just carry over the added expense to the customer.

  3. It's probably not going anywhere. Various iterations were either unstable or too noisy. Circuit boards for the Raal experiment (code named "Bridgeport") have been ordered. I should know more about that in a few weeks. Also, there is some thought to doing a very small run of a 10 year anniversary version of the L2. The basic circuit would remain the same, but there are a few changes that should serve as an upgrade to the original.

  4. Frankly, Antonio, I’d be happy to loan it to you indefinitely. Listen and enjoy on your own time. I’m not about to nickel and dime HC’s doctor.

  8. I still adore my ECP L2 with my HD800s but my listening has switched entirely to the Raal SR1a. I'm not eager to let the amp go, but if any ECP-curious folks would like to hear one of life's great pleasures, let me know. I'm happy to find a reasonable price for the HC faithful.

  16. I spent several days transferring ~25MB of data off a 1991 IBM PS/2 Model 30/286 that had a broken floppy drive. I ended up using a Tripp Lite USB to Serial adapter and a null modem cable. Man, does late 80s/early 90s technology make you feel like it's actually doing something. The PS/2's fan (singular) is loud AF. The HDD is loud AF and makes a very distinct noise on every read or write. Also text based modem software looks the way Hollywood portrayed anything computer related ...until well into the 00s.

  20. Hopefully this helps someone in the future. My 500V offboard KGSSHV (running at ~10mA, 100R for the current adjusting resistors) developed some grainy distortion on the left channel (only with some low bass reverb frequencies). After replacing all sorts of parts, I found that the distortion was due to the IXYS transistors. I had bought 2x IXTP01N100D from Mouser in June 2020 and 4x in Jan 2021. It turns out both of these sets were "bad" parts, symptoms below: 1) Offset voltage on left channel started at around +35V and drift upwards to around +70V 2) There was no way to lower the offset voltage, as the trimpot was maxed out 3) The sound was a bit metallic from the left channel 4) The volume was a bit lower than normal Fortunately, spritzer sold me some of his old stock IXTP01N100D, and after replacing the new IXYSes with spritzer's old stock IXYS, all of the symptoms went away, and the amp sounded "normal" again. With the old stock IXYS: 1) My offset voltage started around -35V and then drifted towards 0V 2) Amp seemed cooler to the touch BTW, I think the 500V KGSSHV offboard at 10mA is the best pairing for the 007 mk1.
