  1. I saw him in concert. It was at a high school gym in Anchorage. The power went out in the middle of the concert. Was off for about 45 minutes. He told stories in the dark the whole time, then finished the concert when the power came back on. Best concert ever! RIP Tom.

  2. I told Karen that I watched Protégé the other night. When she asked what it was about, I told her a Single Black Man takes in an orphaned Asian Girl and teaches her his trade. She ends up in a love/hate relationship with potentially sad outcomes. She got upset at this, "Why didn't you wait for me so we could see it together?' "Well....the man was Samuel L Jackson, he is an assassin, and the woman becomes one too. They both kill a lot of people and she finds the toughest challenge of her life is another assassin/bad guy, who she has some feelings for. Y'know, I COULD watch it again if you'd REALLY like to see it...." [silence]

  4. Yesterday I listened to Super db - Ecoute Ca I found this album due to a recommendation in the weekend newspaper. They said it's some mix of Earth, Wind & Fire, Supertramp, Steely Dan and other late 70's bands. What could go wrong? It's available at most streaming platforms Now just finished ZZ Top - Eliminator It's a pity Odesli isn't including links to Qobuz as well

  5. Chvrches - Screen Violence Very solid 4th album from a band that at this point knows who they are and confidently embraces it. I'm really looking forward to seeing them live assuming the tour comes through San Francisco in December and isn't derailed by COVID.

  9. Needless to say, this has been in heavy rotation with me, too. Right in my wheelhouse.

  10. I've heard good things. But a lot of colleagues have watched it and say it paints a hauntingly accurate picture of academia. I get enough of that shit on a day-to-day basis for it to bleed into my entertainment as well!
