  2. Love my boy....he surpasses me in sarcasm and is almost Bernie-left....but we had this fun exchange when he told me he was going back to Spotify instead of the TIDAL family plan (more selections and features for him and his g/f).

  7. Freddie wasn't too shabby at Live Aid, either. And as I remarked to Joanne, both concerts were before the invention of auto-tune, so the singers could actually, you know, sing.

  10. Yep, it really is. Also one of those soundtrack gems that originated with a film greatly anticipated, hated on release, then forgotten about except when tangents surface ("Spielberg's West Side Story is so much better than Scorsese's New York, New York or Coppola's One from the Heart!", etc.). There's been a few cover revisions and I keep thinking they'll remove the "soundtrack" label. 😇

  11. That was one of my favorite albums at that time. A pairing that I never would have imagined, but soooo good!

  13. Threw together a little stand for the magic side table that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Need to take the flush trim bit around the edges as I did a lazy glue up on the lamination. The Rockler stands are certainly not the easiest to get square, but seem good enough to support the magic side table, I hope. Having the drawers/shelves will certainly help. Going to run shop vac up to a spring hook in the ceiling to give me dust collection of I can make it work.

  14. i've been saying that the switches in a r2r dac were a real problem for many years now. especially the ttl versions. the teac ud-701n is the cheapest ($4k) of the esoteric dacs that use custom and hand matched switches. I expect that better switches will be the new big deal in the next couple of years.

  15. I went down an 80's rabbit hole. It surprised me which albums had the most tracks I loved: Simple Minds New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84), but not Sparkle in the Rain Joe Jackson Beat Crazy but not any of the others Ultravox Vienna (not surprised) Yello One Second and Stella (not surprised) Red Guitars Slow to Fade Wire The Ideal Copy

  16. Thanks for joining Head-Case. I'm glad you're here. That said, you should be aware that this isn't your typical internet forum. We're not here so that you'll have another place to sell your stuff. We're not looking for people trying to pad their post counts, or demonstrate their ability to find witty things on the internet. If you've come here looking for advice on which headphones to buy, perhaps you should check out http://www.innerfidelity.com. Tyll Hertsens, founder of Head-Room and long time community giant is the proprietor there, and does everything he can to ensure that accurate information is disseminated about headphones at every level. This is predominantly a place for friends to discuss music, audio gear, and whatever else tickles our fancy. We are sometimes quite rude, often irreverant, and regularly abusive. Think of it like the corner bar where everyone knows each other. Don't mistake our familiarity with each other as familiarity with you, even if you've seen our names in other locations before. Spend some time reading before you start to post. Get familiar with what is going on, and who the various people are. Don't just jump right into the fray. This is your only warning, but I hope you can participate. There's a lot of good information, and more importantly, good people here.
