  1. All of the pulls for the lower cabinetry had to be inset into the doors and drawers. I built a jig for my trim router, which made it an easy task.

  2. Recently got to go see Arturo Sandoval at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle. I posted a pic online and, well, a good bit of the band decided they'd post that picture as well, including the man himself! Then we got to have a performance of Autumn Leaves by Deeds/Deedles/Diane Schuur (if anyone knows/of her). First time at that jazz club, and won't be my last.

  3. The ponywall cap and railing are White Oak and the round pickets are set directly into the floor, negating the need for a bottom plate. It makes for a really modern look IMO. The pickets will be painted the same White as all the trim. The brass bar hanging above the ponywall is actually a pot rack. I finished the railing to perfectly match the White Oak flooring. The two bi-fold doors on the far Left are factory made. The four other bi-fold doors are built by myself to match the other two. Someone screwed up and ordered doors that didn't fit, so to avoid a multi month re-order, I just built them.

  4. Winding down on another remodel. I'll post a few pics for anyone interested. Cabinets all installed. Waiting on appliances mid November. Bottom cabinets are veneered in Fir. As is the island and floating shelves.

  5. I don't know how I missed this a few years ago. Always enjoy a BBC documentary series. And if it is a parody of one even better. A Clip: Diane Morgan is Philomena Cunk

  7. The bi-pass doors are factory built. The shorter bi-pass doors above are built by myself, to access all of that storage left due to 10' ceilings. The storage above this linen closet wanted to be more stealth. So I built these doors flat and flush. I did not build this closet system, but I did install it.

  9. 96 ain’t a bad run and a seriously impressive resume. Have to wonder if Murder, She Wrote isn’t worth a reboot.

  11. Started with this then made it look like this then decided to play with chemicals then made it look like this via a probably Doug approved implement called a card scraper, then put the first coat on! probably will do another coat, might sand between coats? I am not sure what is recommended with this Osmo stuff… But; it looks ok! - I found out that if you get bubbles in the epoxy it’s doesn’t quite work to just put another layer on top. Also the really shallow flaws didn’t hold the epoxy well. I kinda wanted a contrasting jet black color in the various cracks and crannies and it looks pretty decent! There were some knotholes that went all the way through the plank and those took the epoxy really well.

  12. Building the world’s least efficient hardwood cutoff storage cabinet. Really needed the drawers above it so instead of doing the typical, proper, vertical cabinet, I went half-assed and threw all the sticks in a big drawer with sheets goods held behind the cabinet against the wall. Oh Yeah, the reason for the uneven overhang is I am going to mount the Wilton Woodworking vice on the one side and needed all the clearance. Oh Yeah Part Two, I also FINALLY got around to hanging the small French cleat panel I made way back. The craftsmanship in these holders in embarrassing.
