  1. 'Round About Midnight Miles Davis 1957 https://album.link/i/159135486 Example: I had not listened to this in a while. Good to get back to it. And the Legacy Edition extends it to 1.5 hours of 1957 goodness. It is funny to watch some reaction videos on the YTs of younger people listening to 70s music, shocked that the recording sounds good. Um, good recordings go way way way back. I digress - listen to more Miles folks.
  2. A View From The Top Of The World Dream Theater 2021 https://album.link/i/1576732163 Example: These guys have been consistently prolific for so long that sometimes I forget how hard that is. And as always their caliber of play is impeccable. Shame that I have only seen them once live.
  3. 3/9 also sounds bigger than 1/3
  4. Put it back together and that was the problem. Offset and balance adjusted fine. I was a bit concerned when I first turned it on as it started to come up but blew the fuse (3.15A Slow blow). Replaced the fuse and it came up fine. No soft start or anything. Lights didn't dim or anything. Not sure if this is a problem or not. I'll see how it starts up in further starts to adjust and implement the opto servo. Bias is ~17mA; heatsinks don't seem to be warming much, but I didn't run it much (5 minutes). Might turn it up to 20mA bias, need to read the thread more (again) to see user comments on that. Can't believe I hadn't noticed that solder bridge before, but glad I don't need to try to source any unobtainium parts right now
  5. A new electrostatic from Dan Clark is arriving -- the Corina. I've had the opportunity to try it and if you are a SR-007 person and not as into the 009/X9K, this is a fulfilling option. It does require considerable power, which the Stax mafia has been taking care of since ~2003 https://www.headamp.com/products/dan-clark-corina

  12. Nice job @Pars - there are few things as satisfying as finding and fixing a problem that plagues you like that on a DIY build.
  13. FTFY Does it keep good time?
  14. I did. He confirmed it’s not a 300B output. He said the 300B isn’t powerful enough so it needed a Mosfat for the output, but I’m not really sure what that means. reference: CanJam NYC 2023 Impressions Thread (February 25-26, 2023) | Page 16 | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org so lets be specific 1) mosfet for output. lets rephrase that. 4 x apex class C high voltage power opamps. 2) 300B not powerful enough? pair of tubes is good for 18 watts. more than enough to damage your hearing. All of my tube designs that use el34 you can substitute emission labs 300b. with an adapter and extra filament transformers. Works great. plenty of power. including bh, gg, t2 and megatron. and justin's grand cayman. just because jack does not know how to correctly design amplifiers with 300b...
  15. For those who don't recognize our friend.
  16. Wayne Shorter has died at age 89. RIP to a true legend, whom I met along with Mikey and our dearly departed Ironbut. Maybe Steve is meeting him again... https://www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2023/03/02/wayne-shorter-jazz-saxophonist-dead/
  17. Ohhhhhhh. That's even better than the Photo Fair coming up (Newark, CA 3/25/23). Or at this point should we all just get one of these? https://petapixel.com/2023/02/27/camera-takes-pictures-by-describing-what-it-sees-to-ai-image-generator/
