  3. Got to see Mary Fahl again last night, stunning show. Her latest 2 albums are winter/holiday music, and a covers album. Both were showcased, along with a nice dose of earlier stuff, including her time with October Project. Got to speak with her after the show, and she signed a rare CD I had (her husband said even she didn't have a copy of it). It got a "Wow...!" and a smile. No pics, but it was a small, intimate place right in my hometown!

  4. Okay Speaking of 1964 Speaking of Live Speaking of Jazz Trio Con Alma: The Oscar Peterson Trio – Live in Lugano, 1964 Oscar Peterson 2023 https://album.link/i/1702942233 Example: Now these are examples of good archive recordings. Well recorded, great performances and so fun. So many other unreleased live performances are unreleased for a reason. This does not seem to suffer from that. I also enjoy the 'album' format. 6 tracks - 43 minutes. I don't always need the ultimate complete recordings with 74 tracks and 8 hour runtime. {opens TIDAL and searches for '1964 live'}

  5. Tales: Live in Copenhagen 1964 (Live) Bill Evans 2023 https://album.link/i/1715457640 Example: Great Sunday listen. It almost just sounds like live in the studio (no audience for the first 6 tracks). So I did some research. 1-6 recorded at Radiohuset, Copenhagen, August 10, 1964 7-10 recorded at TV-City, Copenhagen, August 25, 1964 11 recorded at Stakladen, Aarhus, Denmark, November 21, 1969. The recording of the second half of the album is still good, just not as great as the first 6. But it seems that Bill was really in a nice groove in 64 and these tracks are a lot of fun.

  6. Hearing loss after a defined acoustic trauma requires urgent study and if confirmed, it has a treatment (which may work or not) that seems to be more effective the earliest it's implemented. I wouldn't get any hearing aid until the hearing loss is confirmed and more or less stable and permanent. Forgive me but I can't understand what kind of a big POS you have for health care. Some conditions require assessment at the earliest. Sudden hearing loss is one of them, no matter the suspected cause.

  7. Took my kids to the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam on Saturday. The show was great, with the most impressive part being Myles Kennedy, who is Slash's singer. His voice is as perfect for rock as I've heard. I'm not sure how he's not more well known. Karina Rykman was also a revelation. She's a force, fantastic bass player and singer, doing interesting things with music. https://www.xmasjam.com

  9. Yeah... that part annoyed me no end. He did tell her off for using a brush to clean the L300's which would probably have killed them in the end. Also, has anybody else noticed the T8000 chassis has been changed since the first units? Much more ventilation on the new ones. Wonder why that was changed...

  10. Thank you so much for your input, Antonio. You have never steered any of us wrong, so I will heed and continue calling around until I can get on a waitlist. And I apologize for my cranky tone earlier, to both of you. I would prefer this thread be reserved for celebrating original music by our members, so I will see if I can move these messages to another thread, or at least split it off from this one. POS health care == medicaid + no income/savings left to spend on myself. Just arranged to sell off some stock and transfer it to myself, because I agree with you -- it needs to be taken care of ASAP, even if it needs to be at my own cost.

  14. Anyone enjoying new gear? I've been starting to jam techno type stuff with the Elektron boxes sequencing, and it's pretty great. And with the Digitone Keys controlling the Moog Matriarch, I've got 7 octaves of keyboard. Currently have it going through my Zoom multi-pedal for shimmer reverb, and it's sounding so good. I recently got the Drumbrute Impact, which I'm sequencing with the Digitakt. Pretty fun. I really need to practice more with this setup. I want to get some more effects, but I'm also trying not to shop much anymore, because that becomes its own hobby and distracts from creation.

  16. Their longevity is amazing, almost like the Rolling Stones. All the above makes me remember when Gene Simmons was on the Howard Stern show. He readily admitted that everything Kiss did was carefully planned and crafted, and no amount of merchandising was too much. I seem to recall a phrase "Pennies and nickels, Howard....pennies and nickels" (meaning it ALL makes a difference and ALL adds up)..... But I still fondly remember my Kiss Alive cassette tape, and am still working out issues from having it stolen (by a counselor no less) at Summer camp back in 1977 😄.... And making out with a girl from the next year's camp after slow-dancing to Beth....
