  1. There SR-X1 drivers are clearly a play on the older SR-XMk3/SR-5N basic structure as seen from the stators but who knows what the structure is actually like. I'll buy a set when they first become available and rip it all apart...

  2. Picked up a Leica Q. Should be a big upgrade over no camera.* Wish I had never sold my X100F. *no digi camera. I have an FM2 and a bunch of lenses, which I use.

  7. One less nail to paint, Al. Serious note, sorry for the pain. I hate smashed fingers.

  8. You're going to have to go a long way to get that much elevation gain in flat, flat Sacramento. Also good to top off the memory banks before leaving.

  11. Love my niche zero. There's something about it...the design is simple. It weighs enough that it's substantial which for whatever reason one often correlates to quality. It's uber low maintenance. The wife hasn't said much so apparently it's not a big eye sore. Great purchase IMHO. I bought a bunch of Intelligentsia coffees. The Celebration has been really good....so much so I gifted a bag to our neighbors. Definitely better value for money than Onyx Coffee, but I keep going back to them now and again... HS

  12. While we are on the subject of useless camera formats - I long ago got rid of nearly all of my collectable camera gear (the Graflex was a gift, received subsequent to that purge). The one piece I kept was my Pen FT half frame with bellows and slide copier. Because who doesn't need to convert all of their slides into even smaller slides?

  13. I've been away but this one was short lived but really bad. Some 30-40 thousand people lost all heating to the houses (in -10°C weather) and the electrical grid couldn't keep up so they lost that and cold water too in some places. Now another eruption is forecast in 3-4 weeks and that might just be the new norm for us.

  14. I haven't done any real woodworking for awhile but I started a protect yesterday and it feels good to be back in the shop. Steve and I are making two walnut bedside tables for my sisters in law. The design is based on the one shown below that I found online, although our design is taller and narrower. So far I have cut long walnut boards into short boards and then cut domino mortises so I could glue up wider boards. I ended up with ten panels and a number of other pieces for the sides and base. I also managed to slam a dead blow mallet onto my left hand index finger. Not sure if the nail will stay on. 😖
