  1. Thanks guys. Right now I´m fine (or so my bllod marks say) but I´m in a bad "journey". Sorry for my tear message. To keep my mind busy, I've been spending time reviewing some recordings, for example "Use Your Ilusion II" My favorite work by G n´R. With darker/bohemian and more reflective themes. . Use your illusion II Original record 1991: I think it has a fairly balanced sound, it is the easiest to listen to for a long period of time. It doesn't have any outstanding qualities, but it doesn't suffer from any flaws either. . Use your illusion II Mofy: It has a more "pasty" sound, a bit exaggerated bass and midrange, and treble that in comparison is a little muted for my. In some songs this packaging is graceful but sometimes everything sounds very tangled. At the time I spent €200 on this edition. Beyond its aura of exclusive/limited product, I wouldn't spend them today . Use Your Illusion II Edición Deluxe: A more modern mix, they have removed some noise and improved the stereo effect of the original a bit. The treble is not as high as in the original version. In general they have respected the original recording quite a bit. I've especially noticed Axl's voice, which is usually quite aggressive at times, and Slash and Izzy's guitars (still present on some songs). For about 30 bucks, the deluxe edition seems like a great purchase to me.
  2. Have been tinkering a bit with the XL'ish. Build one based on EMS 20Bs and another based on EMS 300b (picture) A major improvement to the Megatron for sure. Really enjoyable to listen to, toe tapping. Whether 20B or 300b I found those pretty similar sounding in this configuration.
  3. To be fair I wanted to use CD only, but I can add this wonder to the comparison from 1973. 😁 This is the best edition without a doubt but the vinyl depends greatly on the cartridge you use (you know that I'm a lover of the Denon Dl 103 and103R)
  4. If you are interested in this type of my madness... Yes Fragile: original record, remastered, HDCD and MOfy
  5. Oh yeah the analog section. I am a Linn-head so it is hard not to go with the 40th anniversary (yeah it was 10 years ago), Linn Sondek LP12. But it came with an Highland Park 40yo - and the Plinth was made from HP cask staves Fully loaded with the upgrade bits and the Ekos Arm and Ekstatik cart: That would give me the Linn sound that I like, but to dig a bit deeper I would like to try the - Wilson-Benesch GMT One Turntable: Built around this piece of engineering art: I agree with you Steve on the LYRA Atlas SL Lambda - I heard the younger sibling of this, in a whisky friend's rig, and I was sold on the sound. And the mono version for mono reason (same pic.. ) For more swapping I have always liked the Grado sound as well -- so Grado Epoch3 And Mono of course - picture not included (yeah it looks the same). I would have to do a lot more research into the phono pre. But I would probably start out with something like the MANLEY STEELHEAD RC: Multi inputs - multi gain - multi load - tubes.. neet! ... and I agree with people that this is a bit of a farce. I am not going to own anything here. But I have also spent time with super high end systems and they are a wonderful experience. This is a hobby for me, listening that is, and with any hobby, you spend time, effort and money on them. A lot of chasing high end would be lost on me at this point in my life, unfortunately. My tinnitus has gotten really bad in the last year and a half. I have had a mild version of it since I was a late teen and I damaged my hearing making homemade horn loaded speakers that I put in my car! I still have really good listening skills and can pick out the minutest of details, I just have to turn things up a bit louder to get over my internal noise floor. Oh, and an Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman: For one - thank you very much - there is only one listening position. - Ever.
  6. Yep, EL34 for the CCS tubes and (EMS 20B or 300b) for the output tubes Here's the 20B version before power switch/volume knob etc. Kevin already posted what is necessary. Using 20Bs is pretty straight forward, 300b is another story and requires a bit of tail resistor tweaking. Not using either, but you probably figured that out looking at the above pic 🐵
  7. HIT ME HARD AND SOFT by Billie Eilish (2024) https://album.link/i/1739659134 Example: Just one listen so far. It is on the lighter side of her work. More like the Barbie track than Bad Guy stuff. I will have to listen again and see what is in the lyrics. Production is top notch, which I expect these days.
  8. I don't have a dream system anymore. Maybe a dream room to put a decent system inside. What would I set up in that room? I don't know, I'd need to trial and error a lot of stuff. Nothing that's going to happen in this lifetime of mine. Nobody asked before being born. Meantime, attending live concerts in real venues should be enough.
  9. My condolences Jose. Wishing you well on your recovery.
  10. Happy belated birthday, Chris!
  11. Well shit. Now that MENSA boy agrees with me, I'm re-thinking my position.
  12. I’m happy to tell an 80 year old bitch they’re wrong. It’sa big reason I talk to Naaman.
  13. Condolences, Jose. I'm hoping your condition is a thing of the past, if not yet, soon enough. There's no such thing as a small cancer requiring chemo for treatment. Best wishes, and share/vent as you want.
  14. Hi, Jose, welcome back. Condolences and sorry to hear about the circumstances of your absence, but feel free to vent -- or not -- and enjoin in your comfort music. This should always be a safe place. (Eventual) Cheers! Me: New Peela (jazz rock fusion): And most recent Lamp ("city pop"):
  15. Thanks all! I took yesterday and today off, and had a quiet day, i.e. didn't do shit.
  16. Hi eveone After a while disconnected I´m happy to come back Curtis Mayfield and Delvon Lamarr (with move on up)
