  1. I have the Momentum and it is ok but not quite neutral enough for my tastes. Plus it gets a bit uncomfortable after a while (it is like a circumaural headphone for me but my ears touch on the inside which gets a bit uncomfortable). I think it would be more comfortable if it were supra-aural. I also have a pair of Audio Technica ESW9. IEMS sound great (I have JH13 and Ety ER4P) but sometimes I don't want to wear them. I haven't looked into the Sony MDR-1R yet so that might be something.
  2. I am thinking of getting another pair of AKG K271 again. I used to own them and mostly liked them. I think I remember that they were not quite as smooth as I would have liked in the treble and many a tiny bit lacking in bass but overall them were pretty neutral and very comfortable. Is there another pair of closed (full sized, comfortable) headphones that I should look at? I have the a pair of Thunderpants but don't love them and would like something more neutral. I have a couple of supra-aural cans (Sennheiser Momentum and Audio Technica ESW9) and I am not interested in those. I guess I also have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-900ltd that I let Tim use. I also would prefer not to spend a ton. I have tried and don't really (for fit or sound): Shure 840 (hurts the top of my head), Thunderpants (sound is not neutral enough for me), Denon 2000 and others (too much flabby bass), Beyer 770 (too boomy), Senn 280pro (too boring and not so comfortable), Ultrasone something or other, Audio Techinca ATH-A900ltd, ATH-W5000 (way way too big), ATH-2000X (too shrill), AKG K340 (if one considers these closed - too big), JVC DX1000 (weird)...
  3. You are now over 1K
  4. Very nice!
  5. I am interested in comparisons between Oppo 105 and DAC2 if anyone has any. I am very interested in both.
  6. This is pretty crazy. I hope they catch the second brother alive so we can get more information.
  7. Jeez.
  8. What a horrible mother. Sounds like he'd be better off without her around.
  9. Found (smelled) a dead opposum under the deck in the back yard and Tim removed it. Fuck, it smelled awful! I could smell it in the house. Nice setup Todd!
  10. Got the ECP prototype. It is very nice indeed!
  11. The sensor is better on the D3200 than the D5100. I would probably only get the D5100 over the D3200 if he wanted to do a lot of video (the D5100 has a swivel screen). If I didn't have much money and had no camera, I would personally get the D3200 and 35mm f/1.8 instead of the kit lens. Of course, lots of people would rather have a zoom lens than a lens that they can use indoors without a flash.
  12. Oh shit, that is awful.
  13. Happy Birthday Jeffy
  14. Just spent 2 hours deciding on and buying flights to France this summer. I thought United was horrible until I starting using the Delta webpage (what a nightmare). I really hate that United got rid of their non-stop flight to Paris.
  15. That sucks. I hate dental work!
  16. Taxes are done. Took about 20 minutes.
  17. I love the Rotring 600 but also hate getting stabbed in the legs. I didn't realize there was a retractable tip. I may have to get one.
  18. I am trying to keep myself in the cheaper DX camp. You are not helping Jacob.
  19. Second student successfully defended her PhD thesis today (the other one defended last week)!!! Now I just need to finish reading both of their theses this weekend... and do my taxes. I will gladly switch incomes with you so you don't have to pay as much taxes Jeff.
  20. Found out that the grant I applied to last fall is being recommended for an award!!! Woo hoo!!! This doesn't make it official, but is very very good news. Too bad I don't have time to celebrate.
  21. We noticed recently that we had a new fruit tree in our backyard. I realized today that it is a guava tree! Now, if we can just get more fruit growing than the squirrels can steal, we'll be in good shape.
