  1. Went there on Al's rec, and it was really great. Supposedly celebrity citings are common, but we didn't see anyone. We were with the kids, so did mostly kid stuff, can't recommend that for you. But lots of good French food, if you have some cash to spend! Also, it's just a romantic, European feeling city. So just a nice long walk around town could be nice. (Nechama is GF? Sorry - I've been away for a bit ...)
  2. Happy belated birthday, Debby! Ba Ba Reeba is nice, but not as good as Cafe Iberico, IMHO.
  3. Favorite memories: my first metal bias cassette, getting a DBX player (wow, that noise floor and dynamic range!), and... Receiving an extremely used Donna Summer 's Greatest Hits cassette as a gift from my schizophrenic patient. ' It's my favorite tape! I listened to it every day for the last five years! ' Well don't you want to keep it then? ' That's OK, I got a new one'
  4. Dan, that looks terrific, but I'm pretty sure coconut oil is one of the offending agents in some of the others nice soaps I've used. It's weird, because I've read both that it helps acne, and that it worsens acne. So I'm not sure what to make of that, maybe it's an individual thing. I know that several of the nicer shaving soaps I used were great to shave with, but after several weeks, I felt like a teenage school boy breaking out like I did. So I've been avoiding coconut oil and it seems much better. Which is unfortunate, because I really liked some of the stuff that list it as an ingredient.
  5. Edwin Jager razor. Am still trying a variety of blades, most recently the Feathers that you recommended (I like them!). Not sure if you saw my post on the other thread, but I LOVE the Geo Trumper Almond cream. My favorite among many I tried. Haven't tried their soap, but I'll bet it's good! Unfortunately, my skin tends to break out, and all these high end soaps and creams caused problems. So I've been using Cremo which isn't nearly as good, but not bad, and very inexpensive. (Though probably not good with a bowl/brush). I'm still on the hunt for something I love that doesn't make me break out.
  6. About my height, just under 6ft tall.
  7. Really cute! Do NOT let it breed with a nearby cat!
  8. Ugh. Sorry Nate, that's awful. Those are some freaky ass creatures. Cool to watch from a distance. Scary up close. Downright creepy inside your house.
  9. Very happy, very belated Bday!
  10. Really sorry, Mike. RIP, Denver!
  11. Crabs - Snow, Dungeness, and Alaskan King at The Crab Pot in Seattle... Btw, I LOVE Seattle!
  12. 'The Brownie Conspiracy'
  13. Haven't seen that vineyard. Will have to keep a lookout. Tonight, prime rib with some giant muffin thing on top. .
  14. Thanks, Iain! We're slowly making our way west, but nice to know we have friends (kind of) nearby!
  15. Yes, it's the compromise Anne makes with me. I go out in nature in the daytime if we can have a nice dinner and a place with running water at night! We did get to Lake Louise today, and even made it out to the Tea House with two 8 year olds! Just stunningly beautiful, isn't it? Hopefully some pics later. I think I even smiled!
  16. Penne with chicken and baby portobello mushroom in a chardonnay cream sauce. Half eaten, sorry.
  17. Happy birthday!
  18. Lunch was Buffalo bacon burger for me, Elk bratwurst for Anne.
  19. Happy birthday!
  20. Nice, and Nice!
  21. About 2 wks on the MBA 11" i7, and I like it a lot better than the i5. It just feels more responsive, with no more frustrating pauses. The i5 wasn't particularly slow, but it wasn't responsive - it had to 'think' on a regular basis. Slight pauses - nothing awful, but enough that I'd wonder if I had clicked the trackpad or not, then just as I went to click again, it would respond. Just a little annoying. The i7 just doesn't do that. I won't say the i7 is a speed demon, but it's a lot more responsive, and I've never felt that I needed more speed. Battery power has been perfectly fine, as well. I haven't worn the battery down to zero, but I've used it for routine computing (no video viewing, lots of surfing, word processing, large spreadsheet and database manipulation, virtual XP on Parallels) for several hours at a time and still was well over 60%. I think it'd hit 10 hours for sure doing what I'm doing. So Mavericks is supposed to fine tune power saving further, and maybe that will improve system responsiveness with the i5. Or maybe it's just the i5. Time will tell. In the meantime, I'm really happy with this one and don't feel any need to change things. For now, I would definitely recommend the Haswell i7 over i5 at least for the portable sets that I've tried.
  22. Awesome, Steve!
  23. We couldn't come to a consensus, but Steven Tyler came up often... except for the guitar strap. We considered Prince, also. I really like the early Joni Mitchell theory.
