Strong recommendation to make a bushing from Delron instead of steel or aluminum. Or at least use a Delron rod. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-acetal-homopolymer-rods

MLB playoffs 2014
I generally like the underdog, and I definitely like small ball, but I am still bitter over 1985

Sennheiser HD 800 Redux
There is likely a current source amp in the future. It is not first in line, though, as I am always hesitant on it as it is in the realm of probably too weird to sell. And I just got some crazy custom made (amorphous) iron from Lundahl which is part of the next project. I am hoping to have a prototype of that one at the NYC/CT meet on Nov 15th ... maybe.

Sennheiser HD 800 Redux
Yup. Great combination. The one I've been playing with lately is tube, but I also did one using Gary Pimm's solid state "pentodes" which was fun.

Sennheiser HD 800 Redux
I've been using mine with an amp with an output impedance of around 40,000 Ohms ... I tend to think it is lack of feedback and not high impedance that matters more.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Glad to hear you're feeling better. I took it as a sign that it was time for this year's flu shot.

Linux Distro
From reading a little, it seem like you can, but this does not strike me as particularly secure. For instance, if you allow Program X free access because you trust it and Program X turns out to have a security issue, then Program Y can take advantage of that by utilizing Program X to send its data with neither you nor your firewall the wiser. So you still have to be vigilant as to what is running on your computer.

Are there any Windows firewalls that don't do this? The built-in firewall in Windows 7 will work at the program level, as will pretty much any off the shelf ones I have seen.- The Official Head-Case Photography Thread.

Pasta with smoked salmon, zucchini, and peas in a cream sauce.- Can anybody think of a reason why this wouldn't work?
Interference here would mean crosstalk, and since you are summing them, you are causing 100% crosstalk anyway. I think you are fine. And, if there is nothing inside the subwoofer to dissipate a bunch of heat, then the Zin is likely high. You can most likely resistance measure across the input to find this out.- And now what did you do TODAY?

Other than the prototype. I assume I'll sell it off at some point, but for now I am using it- ECP Audio
I'd say that while the L-2 works very well with the HD800s, the other amps do, too. They are all a little different of course, but they also all utilize things that I like (transformers, no feedback, short tightly controlled signal current loops) so they are not that different. HD800s are my headphones of choice these days, and I have happily used all of these amps. There is still one BD. It is out on a short term loan to someone who wanted to photograph it. So while it is being sold "as new", it comes with a 10% discount. And it can be returned if it does not meet your expectations, though it does have to come back in like new condition. I am also working on a few new things, at least one or two of which should see the light of day. However, while the BD was designed to be a less expensive amp than the DSHA-1/L-2, the new ones are not. They use considerably more expensive parts and are much more labor intensive to assemble. The hope is to have a prototype or two ready for the NYC area meet in mid November and amps ready to sell in early 2015. We'll see.- Crafting Thread -- Ask Questions About Casework and Whatnot Here ...
