Thank you for this. As I’ve posted I’m an annual watcher of the film and adjustments for the adaptation I’m big thumbs up on. My one comment to her breakdown is the subversion extends to the fact that the film ending is not done (as much as possible) for a next scene (or utility for a people/nation). It’s in private. It’s potentially redefining the hero’s journey internal and that’s why I’ve compared to [side glance] Taxi Driver. Course I know practically nothing about Arthurian legends and British foundations so what do I know about Chivalry/Knighthood? I like movies.
  3. Not sure if this is widely known, but I only found out about it today on The Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack Show. Seems the first three Space: 1999 episodes were stitched together and released theatrically in Italy. And they got Ennio Morricone to do the soundtrack! It's very different than Barry Gray's. Import CD purchased, below is a sample, and the whole thing is streaming on some Hungarian site. Fun! Ex. (put on your seat belts)
  4. Not great, but Barry Manilow charting in 2026 wasn’t on my bingo card, so adding here. No critical endorsement implied.

As it was mentioned a bit back, just letting everyone know the Nodus Obscura (Sunny 16) is back. Course the Sunny 16 Rule is designed to be easy to remember. I just never can. https://www.noduswatches.com/obscura
  6. Jazz in the Movies: Chet Baker Performing (which he only does on seven of the 18 tracks). This Italian release is under various titles and various track listings, so whatever you find, may or may not be the same album, but this version is a good listen as you wind down the work week (yes, I'm mentally winding down at 9am). Also not to be confused with the Jazz on Film: Italian series, which is much more comprehensive and I probably need to buy next. Ex. EDIT: Just bought.
  7. The US and Israeli attacks on Iran, Trump indicated, had killed many of the alternative leaders he had hoped to see in power. “Most of the people we had in mind are dead,” Trump said. “We had some in mind from that group that is dead. And now, we have another group. They may be dead also, based on reports.” He added that his options for replacing Khamenei were running low. “Pretty soon, we’re not going to know anybody.” https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/3/worst-case-scenario-trump-weighs-replacing-khamenei-as-leader-of-iran

Clifford Brown, Trumpeter Whose Brief Life Left a Lasting Mark He was one of the most talked-about jazz musicians in the 1950s. After he died in a car accident at 25, his influence grew. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/12/obituaries/clifford-brown-overlooked.html?unlocked_article_code=1.MVA.U-8R.KeqzVnsWHn7_&smid=nytcore-ios-share (gift article)

  19. Just in case anyone else is interested, these Aperture The Photography Workbook Series (they’re not really workbooks) are really nice. Softcover, but decent stock, solid printing and relaxed text by the photographers to inspire students. No longer sold on Aperture, but some available on Amazon and/or Barnes & Noble (and others), $19-29 each. Would recommend over most more expensive surveys. Still have Richard Misrach’s and Mary Ellen Mark’s incoming.
  20. Catching up with earlier...
