  1. Happy B Day Steve! You were missed at the Double IPA Fest in Hayward this year. Looking forward to seeing you in June!
  2. Went by Radio Shack to pick up some batteries today. I'd heard that they'd given up the fight last week so I was wondering what things would be like. There was hardly anything left. Just a few wall racks of generic cables and a couple of tables of overstocked usb fans and ipad covers. Pretty sad. Even right here in silicon valley where the electronics stores could be found in every moderately sized neighborhood, not much left but Fry's.
  3. Happy B Day Stephen! Hope to see you this summer?
  4. Good for you Shelly! I think you'll find that if you give yourself a chance, you can figure out a lot of the hardware issues around your house. After all, think about the freakin' idiots that have learned to do that stuff well enough to charge for it (I've removed, serviced and re-installed the hardware on hundreds of doors and thousands of cabinets/drawers). I'm pretty confident that you have better critical thinking skills than any of those guys.

Nothing needed but a working MD player and a computer with Sony's MD app installed (I think that Mac's have to have Rosetta). I have an old MacBook that's running Snow Leopard for just this kind of thing. PM me if you're interested.

Sorry, no laserdisc player Brent, but if you have any minidisc's that you'd like to hear again, I'd be happy to transfer them to files or burn them to cdr for you.
  9. It kinda looks like the "inlet" valve from Brent's link is what I was thinking might be bad. On my old machine, it's much cheaper. You're probably looking at at least $200 for an appliance guy (never use a plumber to work on appliances since their labor is X2 and they usually have a minimum) to fix it if that's the problem.
  10. Shelly,.. Kinda sounds like something my washer does every once in a while. Mine's a top loader so it's a little easier to get a look at what's going on. If your problem is like mine, the "shut off" valve isn't closing completely and water is dripping in. It happens maybe once every 20 or 30 loads so even though I've known what the problem is, I haven't bothered fixing it. Of course, like I said, mine's a top loader so it would take a long time to fill the tank and start leaking. IHMO, I would get a repair guy out to check it out. If it is just a valve that's getting stuck, I can't see it being super $$$. And depending on where your washer is located, you don't want to get water damage.
  11. Those are great if you only have one to install (you can spin the pull). But most pulls have two.
  12. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I don't think it looks like it needs one and they can be a total pain to install (if the sink comes close to the back of the panel).
  13. 12 Monkeys has been pretty impressive so far. Best thing the SciFi channel has done since The Lost Room (ended a little weak but was a great ride getting there). I think it's available on NetFlix
  14. I stumbled across this YouTube video of an event that took place at Monza last year. I think a few of us will shed a tear or two as we listen to the fierce sounds of the Ferrari 412T2 echoing around one of F1's most sacred courses.
  15. Hope the claim goes through okay Peter. Looks like one of those Gramavox horns. Interesting idea Ric.
  16. Amazing work Craig! Keep us posted on how it goes in the long haul.
  17. Happy B Day Mike! Have an amazing day!
  18. Tyner has always been one of my favorites. I had the same sort of experience when I saw Oscar Peterson. Sad in a way but you gotta hand it to some of the old guard. Still out there fighting for a living.
