Happy Birthday Mike, sounds like good times. We're in Vermont now, have spent a good part of the day in Burlington on Church Street (Cobblestone walking area). Some nice brewery/pub options here (though decided on Citizen's Cider tonight, not beer)

Ian, that sounds a little like us; the day before my wife and I went in to have her induced, we had a new carpet installed. Not that it's a good omen, but we had a great birthing experience (though epidural helped too!).....

Last night in Canada (Quebec). There is a big festival going on here, started today. Saw a tiny bit of music, braved a lot of wandering crowds (chaotic a la Japan), and had a nice dinner. We also went today to an island outside of Quebec City and some falls that are higher than Niagara (but much narrower). Exhausted now, back at hotel in the AC and ready to relax. Back to USA tomorrow, one night in Burlington VT than home again.....

Had Montreal's famous "smoked beef" sandwich and poutine for lunch. I guess being a Jew from Boston (and with in-laws from NY area) I am spoiled. Basically it was corned beef, which my stepmom makes better! Never mind all the good deli's where I've had it.... Was still quite tasty, though, and the poutine was good to try....once.

CJ, glad to hear trip went so well! Me: did some touring in Montreal, including an awesome Chihuly exhibit at the Fine Arts Museum. Visited several fun areas, and went to a store that sold Stax and Senn gear, only to find it was closed (Facebook page said it would be open 12-5, maybe summer hours). Should catch some free music at the Jazz Festival tonight, for now just relaxing a bit.... Nice city!

I read about that, hadn't seen it yet. Much love for Chicago! They also posted an amazing page after the marathon bombings, proclaiming they were the Chicago Celtics, Chicago Bruins, Chicago Patriots, and Chicago Red Sox. There's a good parallel between the cities' hockey teams. Owners who were stingy, and the teams didn't go too far too often (Chicago had it much worse IMO). But then I believe the sons got involved, and some of the pride and true desire to win came back. Now, both teams are perennial contenders, and just put on one of the objectively best series in recent memory. Even though Jeremy Jacobs is still the owner and mainly in control in Boston, his son Charlie's involvement heralded a slight attitude adjustment. Between that and the salary cap so apparently desired, hockey became a priority again in Boston. The attitude before our GM Peter Chiarelli was hired was one of "putting out a competitive team." I don't think we as fans EVER heard the phrase "we want the cup." So thanks to Chicago, to the team and ownership, and looking forward to next season!

Congrats Steve, sounds like things are really snapping into place well! And Mike, echo what Nate said. We can all share a little bit of your pride!

I had my doubts Bruins would win if it went back to Chicago, but DAMN I wanted it to go back to Chicago! Late choke sucks, but hats off to the Hawks, a helluva team! If we were going to lose, it's much easier to lose to them. Some questions will certainly be asked in the off-season.....some players had bad seasons and post-seasons.......

I haz a fucking sad..... Yeah, down 3-2. We won the last two home/away in 2011, but Chicago is just playing real well. Hoping Bergeron is OK, having lost Campbell was a surprisingly big hit to our bottom 6. If Bergeron can't play it's just as big, if not bigger, hit to our top 6. And, not sure of what's going on with Toews, but hope he's OK too. I like how Julien split up Chara and Seidenberg as well, they were being out-matched in speed by Chicago. Things seemed to settle a bit more when that happened. Back to Boston, but momentum definitely Chicago's now....still, Go Bruins!
