I've always liked Dan, too, he's a great guy and quite the character (at a post-NY-meet dinner a few years, he was regaling us with some great Burning Man stories). I think he makes very good products, and tries hard to keep improving. And while this causes issues with older gear losing value, I do not put him in the same category as HiFi-Man, which seem to rush out lesser quality products, only to introduce rev 2's shortly thereafter to fix the issues (and again greatly devalue the first series). I heard Dan's prototype Stat's at a NY meet, one driven by a BHSE, one by a Cavalli amp. The Cavalli amp one sounded horrendous; closed-in, limited in frequency response, just kind of lifeless. I discounted this, well because Cavalli. The BHSE-driven phones sounded more promising, but it took a high turn of the volume to get it going. I'll leave it to those who know the most to critique the products....but I DO like and respect the man, too. And Purk, if he can compete with the Stax phones, especially without going all proprietary, I'm all for that!

RIP Gord....knew it was coming, he handled it with superhuman grace and class. A sad day for Canada and the world.

Bryan, how is that? I have it but haven't listened yet. I was intrigued initially because it was "Kurt and Courtney"......

Lots of I feel bad for the consumers who now will have to pay for repairs, especially those "lifetime warranty" amps from first batches. I have no idea of anything around investors, but yeah: no apparent partners interested in his legacy. Oh, well, not Singlepower level of fail. And I wish Alex well with his family. But many people left a little bit high and dry now

This probably allows them to get out of any support but they still get some royalty $ I'm sure. All their customers will likely have to send to China to get any repairs done.....

Hardly ever post here since I hardly eat interesting things, but.... Ground Camel sliders with a Southwest Rub. Bit chewy, but quite yummy!

That video that Mikey posted is really fucking haunting! It's like a movie about a post-apocalyptic world.....so horrible that it is reality.....wishing the best for everyone there......

I want to say he is doing a version of Handel's Water Music suite, but that would be in bad taste....so I won't

Holy fuck, Mikey! Is that melted metal, or some other fluid that leaked (EDIT: I see Grahame had similar thoughts as me)? Unbelievable how many disasters and how much damage is happening these days. We have seriously pissed off Mother Nature!

Parents' Weekend at Andrew's college. Karen and I get up nice and early, get down and see a couple presentations (we really like this school and the President is just fantastic!). At around 10am Andrew answers Karen's text; he'll meet us at 12:30 in the dining hall. He comes in after we sit, answers a few questions with one-or-two-word answers. Then we bring some supplies to his room, and head home for a family dinner for the Jewish New Year. Still the same boy, he's doing very well though. Likes the school, working hard, and has met a solid group of kids to call his friends. They are even talking about trying to get into a suite next year, but chances may be slim. Good to have him home a few hours, even though he still stays behind closed door for the most part. Missed him....
