  1. Thanks guys. I had milled that faceplate at the same time I built the matching K1000 case, and I'd pretty much forgotten about it. Marc had kept it stored away all this time. He really did a beautiful job on this amp. Just loitering through his project room is always worth a trip to Austin though. You guys have no idea the extent of his projects, in varying states of completeness. Some truly impressive stuff!
  2. Thus ending Al's lifetime search for the perfect Ebony knob. Kevin it's most likely the small size of the knobs that is causing the Ebony to check. In all larger pieces I've turned I've had no issues. Cut it thin though and it curls like hell.
  3. It's on his list, but it's a long list. Getting shorter quick these days though. He needs to get his Brazilian Soapstone cut to correct outside dimensions.
  4. I miss my Paradigm Reference Active 20s. The actives had a bit more lower frequency energy, but useful to about 40-45Hz. However, once I employed (two) 10" active subs (Rocket UFW10), and switched to the high pass filter they really opened up. I'd recommend a good 10" sub, as I think the faster speed is a better match than the larger drivers. If I were buying today I'd probably try the Emotiva X-Ref 10.
  5. Do they whistle a happy tune?
  6. Dredging up one of my old threads to reveal a happy ending. Marc and I (Marc) were unable to get the F5 to play in any kind of stable manner back in May of 2009. Well Marc wanted some help with his new corner horn project this past weekend, and kind of as a way to entice me up there I guess, he broke the news that the F5 was alive and in top form. It seems he spent a lot of time getting it to that point...new PCBs, major tweaks to the power supply and some resistors to play well with the K1000. She looks and sounds fantastic! It's a little bit of a different flavor for the K1000, and a nice compliment to the β22. And it sounds amazing with my custom built speakers.
  7. Their loss Tyll.
  8. What is something Steve's boyfriend would never say, for $400 Alex.
  9. Even the gay guy got it.
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. Happy Birthday!
  12. Happy Birthday!
  13. Have a good trip!
  14. Happy Birthday Mike!
  15. The corner horns are going to be the shizzle yo! And the two mono F4 amps driving them will be nothing less than HC overkill at it's finest.
  16. For those who've not seen it. It was one of Tammy Wynettes last recordings, and I thought it was pretty cool.
  17. I did love me some Etta James. Rumor mill had it that Minnesota Fats was her Father. R.I.P.
  18. I agree, but it looks like a wrap, not paint.
  19. What phono preamp are you using?
  20. x3. Lily's got a good Daddy.
  21. I did not know that I was in constant rebellion with order. What a revelation! I did know that I'm sneaky however.
  22. If you don't put thumbtacks on your snooze button you just may.
  23. I've never used a snooze button. I guess I'm one of those easy riser types.
  24. Dr. Wood heartily approves of this effort! Great looking case Nate, and Lily will appreciate it even more as she grows older. The things I have that my Grandfather made me are more precious than gold. Great looking bookcase! I have the same Stanley Fatmax sawhorses. I love those things!
  25. Have a great Birthday!
