β24: A discrete, cascoded, fully-differential power amplifier
β24 Monoblocks would be crazy overkill, so of coarse that's what you should build. Two of those bad boys would be incredible!

I'd turn the volume all the way down when hooking them up, and I wouldn't leave them hooked up for some passer by to destroy. Other than that you should be fine. I doubt you'll need much volume to drive them.

The Orthodynamic Thread
Not to mention it's been gathering dust for a while. He's built a swanky new baffle from plywood. It looks awesome! http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/orthodynamic-roundup-111193/index300.html#post4371223

He broke some new ground and made us think. I loved his comedy. RIP George.

spritzer where did you manage to find a Fostex T-50v1? That and the Yamaha YH-1000 are the two phones I'd trade my penis for. I'm infinitely jealous, especially hearing how well they play with the β22. No real surprise there though, as the Donuts are a perfect match.

New Chevy Volt plug in hybrid. 40 miles on one charge
The combination of underground rail, buses and electric buses, all from one monthly transit card in SF was fantastic. I sold my car within a month of moving there, and only missed it on rare occasions. Residents really don't ride cable cars there, that's just a tourist thing.

New Chevy Volt plug in hybrid. 40 miles on one charge
Even in the small town I live in there is a large influx of single occupant vehicles between 8:00-9:30 am and 4:30-6:00pm. However I was speaking primarily of large populous areas. I lived in San Francisco, and have experienced first hand what a good transit system can do. You make some good points, but I still believe there is a very viable need for such systems in even moderately populated areas (500K+). Because I'm a communist.

My stimulus check was supposed to be mailed no later than the 13th, and I have not received it yet. There website is of no use either.

This country needs to implement and embrace mass transit on a full scale basis. Until we come to the understanding that riding alone to work everyday in our vehicles is just stupid, we will not even begin to start solving the problem. We have become a nation of spoiled brats that want everything. God forbid this country would have to ration supplies like it did during WWII. Instead of a mass outpouring of support, there would be a mass hysteria. I'm really hoping that these high gas prices will force people to think differently.

Rockhopper Audio Balanced Beta 22
Says the rookie Dad, in truth there will be a time when you go down there to work on projects just to get some peace and quiet. That may be 3 kids away yet, but mark my words.

Rockhopper Audio Balanced Beta 22
First off congrats on a beautiful β22 Jack! That one is really stunning! My β22 is set at a gain of 7 from what luvdunhill says here, but I thought it was 5 from what he said while he was working on it. It drives my K340 effortlessly, it also drives my Chocolate Donuts effortlessly, and they're even more power hungry than the K340. I would think that a gain of 2 would drive the Senns. without breaking a sweat. I have to turn my volume down a fair bit when driving my HD 580. That said, my source has a high gain. I find that the amp drives low impedance phones just as well. My deep woody CD3000s sound amazing with this amp. Again congrats on a very, very nice amp Jack. Welcome to β22 heaven.

DIY cable gallery
I doubt that a Germania cable could be topped anyway. Better to just buy from her.

comfort issues with k340
Yeah me too. In fact I don't find them overly heavy either, because they fit me so well. I guess my head is smaller than most guys my size, because I haven't had any real issues with headphone fit at all. I hope that's not related to brain capacity, but that would explain some things in my past. I did find the screen mod and the velour to be a great improvement though, but after 20 years of wearing them stock they felt very different at first.

Must have been the formula Grawk. That is pretty freaky! Mine were lost by my Father during my parents divorce. But a few years back my Grandmother divided all of my families childhood pics that they had and gave them to me and my siblings. It was really cool to see them after a 30 year absence.
