  1. Well I think the problem your seeing in this case is that the live data and the backups were kept on the same NAS device this is a major no no. I'll assume in your case that you'd be a little smarter and not keep live data and backups on the same device . Hardware fails it's the nature of the beast which is why backups should always be on a different device and/or off-site depending on the importance of the data.
  2. 47 new members since last Saturday and traffic has increased from roughly 400-500 unique visits a day to 900. Bandwidth usage is still so minimal it's not even worth mentioning.
  3. They didn't disappear they were removed
  4. Since I'm too lazy to start a new thread, there will be a brief amount of downtime tonight. Probably under 5 minutes it should occur sometime in the next hour.

  6. I had tinkered with the two foam layers back when I owned a pair (probably over a year or so ago now) and I always felt that taking either layer out made the treble brighter and taking both out made the treble almost unbearable.
  7. The Oppo players are really hard to beat and support both divx and xvid. I've played back plenty of xvid encoded files (on both cd's and dvd's) without any troubles on my Oppo 981.

The guy I bought it from actually included a Mullard 5ar4 that I've been using since it arrived.

Ever since I sold off "The Dragon" I had been debating what I wanted to do with my speaker rig. The obvious thing to do was to just buy a new pre-amp but I also thought about selling my power amps and going the integrated route. Low and behold I found quite a deal on audiogon for a Modwright SWL 9.0SE with the bybee upgrades (yes i know they are worthless) and more importantly upgraded caps (mundorf silver oil caps which appear to have a good reputation). I've had it for about two days now and it really matches up well with my ICE Power based amps. It has absolutely wonderful tone and every note has the proper amount of texture and depth to them. I'll post more detailed impressions later but suffice to say I'm impressed so far. Now for the gear porn:
  10. Hard to beat the Panasonic Toughbook series for a laptop that can take a beating.
  11. I don't think Exemplar ever offered balanced outs on the denon 2900. I think they started that with the 3910 and 5910.

I thought last nights Criminal Minds was fantastic, the ending was really good I didn't quite see it coming. Am I the only who has enjoyed the season more than the previous ones now that Mandy Patinkin is gone?

  16. Your opinions will have credibility with those that like RSA products I'm sure, pretty much works that way for any product. Just so happens that there aren't many RSA fans here.
  17. LOL thats an awesome pic
  18. Both ftw
  19. You could just buy a 360 or ps3
  20. Game of the Year so far IMO.
  21. I think it's ok as long as they keep it very limited like for checking fair/foul calls on home runs and things of that nature. If they ever start using it for to determine balls/strikes or safe/out calls it'll completely ruin the game. I agree with dan the human error is part of the game but I think mistakes that can be fixed with a single look at replay are probably worth correcting.

Has anyone been watching Prison Break this season? I was really pissed at how season 2 ended but season 3 has been decent so far. Of course it's now on it's mid-season break and won't be back on till January. Whatever tv exec thought splitting seasons up like this was a good idea should be shot.
  23. This might work and it's only an extra $200 to get them fully assembled. Given I have no idea on the quality of their assembly work. You could always buy the kit and harass Nate to build it for you . http://www.diyhifisupply.com/diyhs_ladyday.htm
  24. I remember seeing something on the news a day or so ago about a single mansion outside Atlanta was recorded to have used 400,000 gallons of water a month. The water authority tried to make some excuse like they couldn't prove he was breaking conservation ordinances. Pretty stupid just cut the guy off, using that much water is insane. The average use for a year for a household is about 100,000 gallons. I do have to feel bad for the people of Georgia, their Governor doing this just makes them all look stupid.
  25. The Ack Dack will be a substantial improvement over using the 0404s analog outs.
